Have been having a little play today and have got as far as a background as below. this is acrylic paints and a bit of book page. I have tried some tissue paper on the other page but it is still drying -is wrinkly but i think will blend as there will be some more colour/stamping to go on when I have decided what!

Sap Green or a pale grey would be my choice.  Nice page by the way.  If the tissue paper is crinkly that will just add to the texture so don't worry

thanks both -had got some green out (not sure what colour sap green is exactly) but like the idea of grey and wouldn't have thought of that!. The tissue has totally blended this time tho I lost a bit of a butterfly wing! all the creases have disappeared.  Very Happy

Tissue can look awful and then when it dries it looks great! Nothing wrong in losing a wing  Laughing

So true Jennie but it all adds to the page and once you have finished you won't notice the wing gone no one misses mine 😁

I have stamped and coloured the main image onto card and am going to do the same with the text before deciding what else to add -i find it hard to know how much more to add to any project without going over the top but also getting enough on it so it doesn't look too bare  Confused

Looks great Vonny you can always stamp a text on card and then cut between each line and attach to page does that make any sense  Confused

The page looks lovely Vonny - it takes me ages to do a journal page - always scared I will do too much!

I'm with you there Miriam - however,   I have been told that a page is never really finished Rolling Eyes

Becky I like the idea of only taking 10-20 mins but this cannot allow for drying time, or can it?

must admit I find the waiting hard so I do a bit then work on something else. Means a page can take a few weeks tho!
Perhaps we could share pages in progress here -my current one is below

the background paint is the Fresco one that Margaret kindly sent me. think I'm going to add a bit more colour next

When I am using paint I find I often taken a little too much and rather than waste what is left, I paint it out onto a journal page.  Yes, I do have a journal with me at all times just for that purpose.  Sometimes the backgrounds I get are light and bright:

Click to see full size image

they can even be quite grungy

Click to see full size image

the trick is not to be precious about colours - just use up whatever colours you have spare whenever until page is "full" of colour.  Then move on to another.
