April CS challenge

Thanks to Margaret for choosing the  "one layer wonder" card technique. thought I would start a new thead for it to keep it seperate from March's.

Let's all see what we can do - should be quite quick to make ?
Beckyb

Thank you will see what I can do it does look good.

This is my attempt at the one layer challenge which I thought I would post although I'm not very happy with it.  (I'm off on holiday tomorrow so no more time). I found it very difficult to ensure the stamp was straight.  I used 2 shades of green for the background (Colorbox cats eyes) but there isn't enough contrast between them.  I had a funny feeling this technique looked more simple than it was!   Sad  Margaret

Your card is lovely Margaret.

I will hopefully be trying this next week.
Sarah

I like your card a lot Margaret and it looks very straight to me - but your comment did make me wonder if you have a device for putting your opaque stamp exactly where you want it?  I had a handmade system for a while and then ended up buying a perspex L and flattish perspex rectangular designed for the purpose and I do find them really great, I think they are Woodware ones but Stamping Up also do one and probably other people too.  I used to stamp a lot of elephants and they were always ending up in the wong place until I bought the L thingy

I don't have anything but have seen the Stampin Up thing.  I cut two bits of card and stuck the card underneath!  Might invest in something better.  Margaret

both lovely. looks like you couldn't cope with all that white space Becky  Laughing  Laughing
Was thinking that as this is a series we could have it for our CS challenge while it runs. What do you think? As Margaret says it looks easier than it is!
Beckyb

Laughing

Not use to it and I had a stamp that fitted  Laughing

Beautiful card Becky.  Vonny, I think that's a great idea.  I did a course at Bladerubber once where they told us the way to make something look handmade and not homemade was to use layers and it's kind of stuck with me.  Would be fun to go back to one layer and try and do something that still looks good.
Mickie

Lovely card Becky.

I hadn't realised that the article is going to be a series and agree it would be a good idea to run with it.  Be like doing our own little course Cool

I did a couple of one layer cards using a huge amount of masking, earlier in the year.  They were very time consuming but came out well and it was nice to see that for all there were many layers they would go for the price of an ordinary letter.

Great card Becky.  I like the idea of sticking with the series - I'll have a chance to catch up  Very Happy

Margaret, I used the colours that were suggested in the article in the magazine and had similar results to you in that there was not enough contrast between the background colours Shocked

Think I will experiment more with other inks.

Here is my attempt - must say this is a really different way to stamp - and very quick if you want to make multiple cards.

thanks for your comments ladies. Have to admit to making another card by mounting the double image on a cuttlebug embossed and sanded background -looked good too but wasn't a single layer  Laughing

Here's my effort.  Not very close to the original I'm afraid except for being one layer.  I did try only using two colours but it looked very dull and then I don't have any text stamps except for simple greetings (obviously need to do some shopping) and my greeting looked a bit stupid stamped on top so I stamped it underneath.  As Vonny said, a good way to make a very quick card though!

The French background is from the Tim Holtz 'Papillon' stamp set.  I have used it on almost everything I have created since I bought it Laughing
vonny

I have a Hero arts French text background that I use a lot - perhaps French seems mopre exotic then English  Very Happy
