If you click on my blog I've put on this week's techniques.  The paper flowers are on the second page and I just LURVE them!

Do have a go!
Sophie

They are gorgeous Jennie, can't wait to get a few spare minutes and have a go!
janeyc49

Beautiful work Jennie
Jennie

Thanks for your lovely comments - but I am following Donna's designs!

DO have a go at the flowers, they are just so simple.  I'm going to have a go with a piece of marine chart this afternoon, but a map might be a great idea too, or just ordinary white card.
Jennie

This week's lesson came through at 2.30 pm and I was making this week's rolled roses by 3.00!  Pretty spectacular!  I used Oriental Poppy Glimmer Mist and my hands are such a sight.  You have to "roll" the wet paper.  Good job I'm not going out tonight!  Will probably get the page finished pretty quickly as we are using some flowers from last week too.  So should get a photograph to you soon  Smile
vonny

sounds like you are having great fun Jennie, and thanks for sharing it all with us
Miriam

Look forward to seeing them Jennie.  You know that you have had a good craft session when your hands are inky!  Although people always look at me very oddly Laughing
Jennie

More flowers with Donna this week!  Rolled roses which were really fun to make.  I've updated my blog with this week's pages if you would like to have a look.

Wonder what we'll be doing next week!
vonny

the pages are looking great. Going to be a fat book when you put it together!
Miriam

Looks great Jennie - you must be pleased Smile
Jennie

We did more flowers this week which I've posted on my blog  If you scroll down a bit too you can see the scrapbook layouts I designed for the nightclass.

Another class today with Donna.
vonny

Jennie, these flowers are even more gorgeous!
Jojo79

Wow great flowers Jennie
Jennie

Thanks for your comments.  Honestly they are easy to make.

This week's pages a bit different.  Using Perfect Pearls and embossing powder.  I've not had much luck with PP so should be interesting!
Beckyb

The flowers are gorgeous Jennie  well done.

Jennie

Sorry going to show off a bit now - Donna has commented on our work on the Classroom site and she says my flowers are better than hers (crikey!!) and my colours "touch her soul".  Bit flowery, but nice to hear!
Mickie

Nothing like having your soul touched!  Well done Jennie you must be quite chuffed with yourself as we used to say!

Mickie x
Jojo79

Well done Jennie.
Jennie

Back to earth with a bump with this week's pages - GRRRR me and Perfect Pearls do not get on!
vonny

REally nice to get praise. What's you problem with PPs?
Miriam

well done Jennie Smile
Jennie

Perfect Pearls ??

I struggle in the first place to get the lid off without spilling loads all over the place!
And I never seem to get the lovely colours on my stamped image that everyone else seems to get.
Then it all seems to go all over the page and I find I get coloured splodges everywhere I don't want them.

Mad
Beckyb

Lol when I use PP I just hope for the best do you use versamark

  Becky x
vonny

I have other mica powders but I think they are pretty much the same. Can't help with opening the pots but you could try swiping card with an antistatic pad before you start.
don't know why the colours should look different - must be your northern light  Laughing
Mickie

Once you have brushed off the excess PP, do you set the image?  I use hairspray it stops the powder falling off the page.

Jennie have you tried using PP as a paint?

Mickie x
Jennie

Thank you ladies for all your help!  Will try out the different ideas.

Like the idea of PP paint Mickie.  Will give that a try.

My favourite - well only way - of using PP is sticking a bit in a mister and spraying my stamps before stamping or misting inky bits.
vonny

If you stamp on black card either with the proper ink or Vesamark, then brush the powders over, you gt some nice effects. It tends to be a soft look as it is not easy to get rid of all the excess powder and like Mickie says, fixing is needed.Mixing the powders with water to make a paint is good too and once you allow the left over paint to dry you can just spritz it to re-activate
Mickie

If you want fancy nails without going to a nail artist you can, whilst the nail varnish is wet, just brush a wee small amount of PP on the ends of your nails and drag it up.  If the nail varnish looks smeared then go over the whole lot with a clear varnish.  You can get some interesting effects Laughing

Pat

Leandra has some interesting nails farther back on her blog.
Lots of scrapbook products might work grand  like stickles, glitter frock etc.etc. Have a fun rainy day activity.
Very Happy

Jennie

This week's pages are now on my blog.  A bit different this week, but still very enjoyable.  Only one more week to go  Crying or Very sad
Mickie

Will check out Leandra's blog for the nails Pat.  glitter might be fun for the Christmas parties. Laughing

It will be sad for all of us when your course comes to an end Jennie. Sad   Have you another booked?

Mickie x
Jennie

Glad you are all enjoying it too!  You will have to "share" your course with Glenda of course  Smile
Mickie

Absolutely Laughing

Mickie x
Beckyb

Gosh Jennie you must have loads of flowers  Laughing I tried the rolled ones they did'nt turn out like yours.

     Becky x
Jennie

Keep trying Becky - mine were rubbish at first, but then it suddenly clicked!
Mickie

Does the thickness of the paper make a difference Jennie?

Mickie x
Jennie

Very much so Mickie.  Try with some old dictionary or book paper first.  It is much more pliable when wet.  Using light cardstock is more difficult and grungepaper probably the worst.
Mickie

Have been trying different papers and, yes, the finer paper is best to begin with.  Still get one nice one to two not too good ones Embarassed  Will just have to persevere.

It occurs to me that I have a few Christmas Dinners to go to and there's bound to be banqueting roll to vandalise Laughing

Beginning to wonder why I bought Grungepaper.  Anyone do anthing wonderful with it?

Mickie x
Beckyb

I llove grungepaper it is great to use with Tim Holtz dies as is grungeboard but grungepaper is abit more pliable it smells nice too I know I have a sad life Laughing

    Becky x
Mickie

That will be my problem - I don't have any Tim Holtz dies Laughing

Mickie x
vonny

You can punch it with normal punches - and i agree with Becky about the nice smell. Her snowflake Xmas decoration is made form this and it alos took the colout very well
Mickie

I find that grungepaper doesn't take colour too easily.  You have to really go for it, or perhaps I am using the wrong inks.  I tend to use DI.

Mickie x
Jennie

Am I the only person who doesn't like the smell of grungepaper .......
Beckyb

I usually use acrylic paint on my grungepaper it seems to work the best
It is about the only time I use my dabbers.

Jennie

I have now finished the course with Donna.  We did image transfer for the last page (which amazingly for the first time worked - so many trials have failed!) and we did the cover, which was just about everything on the one page!

It's a thick book!!!!

It looks really great Jennie, and you managed to keep up. Are the covers made from corrugated card?
Mickie

What a fantastic book Jennie.  Well done for keeping up and thank you so much for passing on the techniques Laughing

Mickie x
Jennie

Yes Vonny, it was corrugated card (Zutter) we used for the covers.  Tore a bit off and then painted it.  A bit messy for me, but good to give it a go.
Pat

You did a great job on your course projects Jennie.

Jennie.......My too cents worth.......Nearly all my scrapbooking friends complain about the smell of "Grunge". Embarassed

Pat
vonny

it's obviously me and Becky who are a bit wierd then (sorry Becky!)
Miriam

Fab work Jennie
Beckyb

Thats ok Vonny  Laughing  Laughing
