Feb CS challenge

Hi everyone
i would like to choose the paper blending technique on page 47 for the challenge.
If you don't have gesso then white acrylic paint may work.
Look forward to seeing your work.

I had an evening to myself last night courtesy of the Dog Club, so I set to and made this page and a couple of ATCs from the bits that were left.

I really enjoyed this technique and will certainly be doing it again.  I used gesso (as I had it) but in my impatience I should have left it to dry alot longer as when I put the inks on they smudged a bit.  I love the way the Vintage Photo comes out a lovely earthy terracotta on the gesso.
Mickie

Lovely work Jennie. Laughing   Think I'm going to like doing this one

I did some last night so it has dried overnight and am aiming to do something with it today I really enjoyed doing it and will certainly be using it again.

Fantastic Becky.  Do you have a ruler stamp?  I would really like to get one.
Jojo79

Love all of these, was reading CS earlier and liked the look of this technique. Hope mine look as good as yours.
Beckyb

Yes I have a ruler stamp it is made by clarity and it is sooo handy.I do love this technique although similar to the fabric technique I think this works better.

Jennie

Thanks Becky - I'll be on the hunt for that stamp!
Mickie

Here's what I did with the paper blending technique.  This is a really good technique to know and I really enjoyed it.

First off, my page for my Techniques Book:

Great Mickie, I love the card. Looking forward to having a go at this, have just brought some gesso  Smile

Thank you Jo.  You will find your Gesso so useful you will wonder how you lived without it Laughing

Great work Mickie - I see you did the shadow round the three men. i tried this and it went a bit too dark, so am not sure about it. Will post when I have done something with the other sheets.
Mickie

Thank you Vonny - something you did last year inspired me to buy that stamp and I'm glad I did:lol:

I used a paper stump to do the shadow - think it might have absorbed quite a bit of the ink before it got to the paper.  I wonder though, if it actually matters whether you have a lighter or a darker shadow.  Perhaps you are worrying too much -expect it does look good. Laughing

Thanks for your kind words mickie. i used a blending tool that I bought for something (but can't remmber what!) and it wasn't really absorbent so I guess that makes dofference. however the ATC has now gone for a little walk so can't scan it. however here are two cards I have made and I do like this technique. i got a bit carried away with the sepia one and kept stamping more over the top.

Great work ladies - you have all been so busy...
Mickie

Vonny your cards are really good, especially the sepia one.    Laughing

I think this is the best technique we have done so far.  I did another piece using coloured papers which had a shiny finish, out of one of those Wordpress books.  Wasn't sure of the end result but decided I had started so would finish.  The shadowing was a bit tricky because the stump just rubbed the Gesso off the paper!  I ended up using a black colouring pencil.

I made four ATCs, three to send off to people, which I did and one for me to keep and scan in.  That's where it all went wrong - I seem to have lost that one Rolling Eyes

Love what you have done girls you are right Mickie this is the best technique so far.
