March CS Challenge

I offered to pick the March project - had plenty to choose from!

As long as no-one is offended,  I would like to choose the altered book project.  It looks like  a fab project to create and I'm sure we have all got old books hanging around or can get hold of cheap copies from charity shops.

Hope you have fun playing!
Beckyb

Great choice Miriam I was going to give it a go something different.

Off to buy my CS this morning.
vonny

Haven't got mine yet but have a couple of old children's board books that I rescued form the bin at school so hopefully these will be ok for the project.Have been meaning to alter them for ages so hopefully this will give me the impetus. Otherwise may have to us the old WI cookbook that I've used as book pages up until now.
Look forward to seeing CS in the week.
Mickie

Yesssss!  I have found a book this morning.  Excellent choice Miriam.  Now I will have to complete the project, rather than just collect all the necessaries Laughing

A great choice Miriam and what a wonderful book Becky.  I am doing an altered book at the moment, but not quite the same as this (actually I've been doing it for a couple of years  Embarassed ).  Will look for a suitable book in the charity shops tomorrow.

I have been reading my CS in the dressing room whilst waiting to go on and do my two bits in the play.  I find everyone is reading it avidly when I get back!  More converts me thinks  Very Happy

Lovely work everyone. Still need to get my book to alter. Not sure I will be able to cut it though - I love books  Laughing
Mickie

Cutting the book was the hardest part Jo but once you have done it, you feel quite liberated Laughing

Mickie x
Jennie

Wow another lovely book Mickie.  Well done everyone they really are superb.
Miriam

Lovely book Mickie...
vonny

Another beautiful book mickie. these are all fab
Mickie

Thank you for your kind words ladies.  They really are all lovely but just one question...........................where on earth do you keep all these things?

Mickie x
vonny

that has been my thought and i doubt i will actually do the book but be inspired to do a card along the same lines. i have absolutely no space for ornamets of any type as windowsills can't realy be used as when I open the windows everything blows off! We don't have fanlights. And shelves are crammed with craft stuff, books or DVDs  Laughing
Beckyb

Love your book Mickie I am not sure where to put mine  Laughing

     Becky x
Mickie

Thank you Becky, I have found a home for my book in the book case.   Wink  But it is facing outwards so can be seen.

I made a page for my techniques book which I will scan and post.  This works well too, so for all it is not a book, it is 3D.  Maybe those of us with limited space might have to take that route Laughing

Mickie x
Jennie

I was wondering how to incorporate it into a page.  Not sure I want to do a whole book (no time at the moment, but would still like to have a go).  Good idea Mickie  Very Happy
Mickie

Here's the book idea made into a page for my technique book:

Click to see full size image

No the best of scans I'm afraid, the frame is actually shorter than the backing page so actually better proportioned than it looks here.  For the torn book part I used half a dozen of the pages that I cut out of the actual book.  Any more pages and the frame would have been too bulky but enough to give some depth for the flower.

Jennie

That is lovely Mickie - inspiring me to have a go!
vonny

What a great alternative, thanks Mickie
Mickie

Thanks ladies Laughing  It was almost as much fun to make as the book was.

You will have to go ahead with your card now Vonny - I think the technique will lend itself very well. Laughing

Mickie x
Beckyb

Thats lovely Mickie and what a good idea.

Mickie

Now looking forward to the next CS Challenge Laughing

Jennie

Not a good example, but glad I got it done.  Only realised when I took the photograph that my writing is going the wrong way  Embarassed  Embarassed  Embarassed   Will probably give this another try. It would make a nice card.

Don't think it matters about the writing Jennie. Looks good anyway.

Who is choosing the next one?
Mickie

Not sure that the writing is that much of a problem Jennie.  I like the stamp you used. Laughing

Who hasn't set the challenge yet?

Mickie x
Beckyb

Love your page Jennie glad you got your mojo back.

I not sure who has not set a challenge I don't mind who does it.

   Becky x
Jennie

I won't get my mag until mon/tues, so happy for anyone to go ahead.  I meant to take out a subscription this month as I liked the PaperArtsy stamps, but then completely forgot about doing it  Embarassed
vonny

Might be worth ringing them Jennie as if they have some of the PAperArtsy stamps left they may be happy to let you have them - you can always say you don't want the sub without them. These stamps persuaded me to re subscribe but the first mag I get will be June's. they had a very quick turn around too.
got the current one from WHSmith yesterday but haven't really looked at it yet.
Mickie

That's a good idea Vonnie - I think it is very likely that they will have some stamps left from the PaperArtsy offer.  Give it a go Jennie Laughing

Mickie x
Jennie

No luck I'm afraid  Crying or Very sad  I got my mag yesterday - has anyone chosen a technique yet?
vonny

Not yet   Sad - i think we are hoping somoene who hasn't made a suggestion so far will join in ...

so how about it if you are reading this and haven't chosen a technique then select one from the current craft stamper as our challenge!
margaret rorie

I would like to suggest the One Layer Wonders as this looks very easy but I'm sure it isn't!  I made the distress ink swatch book which was time consuming but not particularly challenging.  What does everyone think?
Margaret
Mickie

I think this is a really good idea Margaret, as not one I would have gone for, therefore, I will probably surprise myself by enjoing it Laughing

Expect this will be a good techinique to know with postal prices hiking up as they are Laughing

Thank you for stepping in and choosing the challenge.
