thanks for the lovely feedback - I used Martha Stewart butterfly stamps and a Stampin Up flourish.  Margaret
Mickie

Agree with everyone; well done on setting up your gallery Margaret and lovely card and stamps.

Great card - I love it.  I bought a pot of gesso in a moment of enthusiasm after getting that craft stamper and now feel inspired to open it and have a go!
margaret rorie

Go for it, Sarah!  That was my first attempt using gesso and I think it is useful for toning down backgrounds.  Margaret
Beckyb

Lovely card Margaret  I like the technique.

grungy monday

this is my grungy monday tag - it took 5 attempts before I was happy with it!  I applied the ink with the applicator as I didn't have the right colour of reinkers.  Then I spritzed with perfect pearls.

Your attempts were worth while Margaret - lovely!
Jennie

Your tag is great Margaret.  I didn't do mine with reinkers either.

If you don't want to start a blog you could consider getting a Flikr gallery and then you could take part in the challenge.
vonny

Lovely work Margaret
margaret rorie

Thanks for the lovely feedback everyone.  I took your advice Jennie and opened a Flickr account and then decided I might as well go the whole hog so I posted my photo on the challenge website!  Think I'm getting addicted!   Smile  Margaret

Great cards Margaret and a lovely use of your stamps.  Hope you had a good time at the Stampin Up demo on Friday night.
margaret rorie

Thank you for your lovely comments everyone.  I managed to buy a few things at the Stampin Up demo and got some more ideas for cards.   Very Happy Margaret
Mickie

Love your "fiddle" card Margaret.  I have that stamp, too, but never used it - think I shall be remdying that situation very soon so, again, thanks for the inspiration Wink

margaret rorie

Thanks Mickie.  I doesn't show up well on the photo but I stamped some music first before doing the fiddles. The stamp is a Clarity stamp.

distress ink swatches

This is a photo of one of the distress ink swatch books I made following an idea in this month's Craft Stamper.  I think this will be useful because they show the different shades of the inks.  I also discovered some lovely inks I had never really used before!

The colours look really good, don't they?  Well done Margaret.

Mickie x
vonny

this looks great margaret - perhaps you would like to set it as the CS challenge for the month? See the thread under challenges to post  Very Happy
margaret rorie

I've suggested the One Layer Wonders rather than the swatch book for the challenge - the swatch book wasn't enough of a challenge!
Sarah

I bet the swatch book will be really useful - it looks very pretty too!
Mickie

I wondered about making a swatch book but felt challenged at having to do 48 pages Laughing

Mickie x
margaret rorie

Are there 48 distress inks now?  I thought I had them all.  Margaret
Sarah

I've got 15 and thought I had a lot!  Obviously I have some catching up to do....
Mickie

Sorry ladies - must have had a senior moment; there are actually 36 Distress Ink Pads Rolling Eyes

Would still be challenging to do a swatch for each of them Laughing

Think I shall try and rest my brain over the weekend, it is obviously working too hard.

Have a good weekend everyone, rumour has it that the weather should be warmer.  Hurrah Cool

Margaret, thanks for setting a challenge -haven't been on that thread yet.
margaret rorie

This is my tag for the Grungy Monday Day 6 challenge.  I used a Lake Mist dabber and Weathered Wood for the resist background.  The stamps were from Crafty Individuals and the sentiment from Fiskars Good quotes.

very nice Margaret and I especially like the distressed background.
margaret rorie

Thank you, everyone, for the lovely comments.  I hadn't tried that technique before but was pleased with the end result.
margaret rorie

This is my attempt at the Grungy Monday 07 challenge on Studio L3 - this week you had to use Tim's colour blocking technique.  This is certainly a technique I will use again for backgrounds as it is so easy!

This is a good technique - thanks for the reminder Margaret.  I love the card too. Laughing

Lovely card Margaret
vonny

like the card and the shadow stamping in the background - think this is one of our tag techniques  Smile
margaret rorie

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments.  I'm not sure what you mean by shadow stamping, Vonny.  I just used the distress ink blending tools to stamp rectangles as per Tim's instructions!   Very Happy
vonny

oh, it just looks the same  Embarassed  Shadow stamping is when you use solid block type stamps to add light blocks of colours to a card. they were really in at one time as they really made great backgrounds. Good to lnow there is another way of doing this that won't involve having to buy new stamps!
margaret rorie

This is my take on the Grungy Monday 08 challenge - watercolouring.  Tim used Adirondack dye inks but I don't have any so I used distress inks which worked fine.  The stamps are from Elusive Images "Tall Trees" set.  I like the water colour effect you get when you mist the stamp.

Lovely card Margaret.  I love the stamp you have used.
vonny

I really like this Margaret and the trees stamp is ideal for this technique  Smile
margaret rorie

This is my attempt at using Adirondack paint dabbers (as per Tim's instructions) for the Grungy Monday 09 challenge.  I used copper paint on black card for the tag and copper mirri card for the little squares.  The stamps are from Elusive Images.

This is my take on the Crafty Individuals' challenge for June - "Vintage with Hearts".  All the stamps I used are from Crafty Individuals and I used Tattered Rose and Victorian Velvet distress inks.  The photo was downloaded from Craft Stamper and I made the photo frame.

could enlarge this one and able to see that you punched/die cut  your paperweaving, very clever. Did you stick it to a background first?
Love those little tags too
Miriam

lovely margaret xx
margaret rorie

The tags were cut using a tag punch from Stamp it up.  I did the weaving then cut out the flowers before sticking them to the background.  Margaret
vonny

so how come they didn't fall apart? That's what I thought would happen so I didn't try it  Confused
margaret rorie

sorry about the delay in replying, Vonny.  I glued any bits at the edges that were sticking up!  Margaret

This is the card I made for a young relative's 21st birthday - he does a lot of motorbike racing.  The picture is a download and stamped some wheels and gears for the background.

These are my attempts for days 1 and 3 of the Inspiration Showcase.  I didn't have a suitable die so I cut out the heart shapes.  I also made the rosette freehand and it seemed to work fine.  I'm really enjoying this course.
