Online Class - Getting Creative with Punches

I start this one today  Very Happy Will keep you informed  Very Happy
Mickie

I wondered about this but wasn't sure if it needed a massive amount of punches.  Look forward to seeing what you do on this course Jennie

I'm using a mixture of punches and die's as I've not got a great number of punches.  These are the first two cards.  I really enjoyed doing them - it is a long time since I did a card without any inking!  We used the sewing machine around all the edges, but my stitching is not great!

I love the "flying" butterflies!  Two stuck together in the middle, but only the lower one stuck to the card.

Great cards Jennie.

This week's project was a picture.  Mine is quite different to the tutor's but inspired by hers.  We had to use as as many different punches as possible but also as many scraps as we could.  We also sewed muslin over the paper to "dull" it down a bit.  I now have the picture in an 8 x 8 frame.

I really enjoyed this.

Jennie this is really lovely.  The flowers are interesting, was it a petal punch that you used?

Beautiful - so how many punches did you use?
Beckyb

5 punches and a die cut Vonny.  Just about all the punches I own!!!
Jennie

Week 3 and the project this week was a scrapbook page using circles and a fair bit of sewing.   I really enjoyed this one and it took very little paper - all scraps from my box.

I love the way the tutor encourages us to look for pieces of poetry or sayings to complement our work and to provide the focus for a title.  She also suggested we try using a recent photograph, but printing it black and white or sepia.  You have to use quite different colours to complement the colours (or lack of) in the photograph.

Lovely Jennie, I can see that you enjoyed this.  Smile

Another lovely piece of work Jennie.

Jennie you seem to be able to turn your hand to anything and come up with lovely results.

This is the last week and we've made a card and a couple of ATCs.  I like the double punching of the cream card to make lace on the card.

I don't normally like cutting out images but this CI image works well on book paper.

I have really enjoyed this class.  It has not been particularly difficult but interesting in terms of thinking how to use punches and die cuts in different ways.
Miriam

Lovely work again Jennie.

I really like the lace effect on the card
Beckyb

Love the atc's Jennie.

I really enjoyed the way Catherine used her punches in so many different ways. As I only have a few I've not done half the stuff she had in her examples.  And she encouraged us to use scraps rather than dive in to fresh paper.  Amazing how little we used in the event.

It is a good course.  Catherine is doing an ATC course starting 16 December.  I'm really tempted as I love her style and she's doing lots of different techniques.  I want to do Tim's Tags again this year, so not sure whether I will have enough time.  But there would be plenty of time to catch up over Christmas and the New Year.  Hmmmmm .........
Mickie

Go for it Jennie - I am struggling to keep up and there is so much I would like to do. Sad   I wonder if the ATC course will be repeated early next year?  I should not have to be pedalling as hard then and might have a bit more time too.

Really looking forward to Tim's Tags.  If this year is anything like previous year's I shall probably only get to be able to do a couple though. Laughing

Becky, I found the ATC course yesterday when I was on the main site.  Just look under all courses - took a bit of patience to find it.

One of the things they will be doing will be image transfer, which I think might be fun.  Perhaps we could have that as a challenge sometime.

Don't suppose we shall know about Tim's Tags until 01 December.  If anyone hears anything, please pass it on.

Will have to go and have a better look Mickie it sounds good so might give it a go.

Sorry I missed your post yesterday about the ATC course.  If you go to the calendar and hover over the dates I think you will find it starting on 16 December.

I looks as though Catherine is doing alot of different techniques on this course and she nearly always includes sewing (but this is optional).  I did a bit of image transfer with Donna Salazar - we used Claudine Hellmuth multi medium and it worked a treat.  Catherine uses alot of Claudine's stuff as well.

It would be good if a few of us did it  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy
Mickie

You are right Jennie, it would be good if a few of us did it together.  I would love to do this course but I really cannot take anything more on this year.

I will have to look for it to come round again, hopefully in the spring.  It does look like the courses all go in a circle.

Beckyb

I have found it I am thinking about giving it a go.
