Rachel's Gallery

So this was my first project of the day where I used a proper mask for the butterfly stamp for the first time, also got to use gold embossing powder (which I purchased at the end of the day) I also liked the idea of using the pen nib on the butterfly body. The background was done using distress inks and misting spray.

The next one was a wedding card where I learnt how to do paper grouting on the embossed background and the die cut flowers using a small pallet knife and Glitter paste, which was a cool technique I enjoyed. Wasn't so keen on all the frills though.

This was a pop out type card which was fun and super easy to make. Spent most of the time stamping the flowers and ferns, then cutting and piecing it back together. Perfect fit for a standard DL envelope that I usually have plenty of in my cupboard.

This home sweet home sign was really cute, I enjoyed painting the background and the stamps themselves with translucent and opaque paints. I also enjoyed created a textured background with simple things like bubble wrap and simple stamps.

This owl themed card was one of my favourites for the day. I love using cardboard like this for texture and depth of a simple design. The owl itself is super cute too, I also enjoyed paint him and decoupaging him into 3d.

This was my favourite project of the day. Adding all sorts of embellishments and embossed card and modge podging wrinkly paper, then painting the whole thing black with gesso. Once you run your finger over with Inka Gold of various colours (one of which I also purchased) and you get this great grungy metallic effect which I love. This is the project that inspired me with regards my ATCs this month with the CS stamp.

Well done Rachel on setting up your gallery.  All your projects are super - looks like this was a really worthwhile workshop.
Mickie

Congratulations on getting your Gallery going Rachel.

The Dabble Day certainly gave a lot of variety, both in techniques and projects - just love the steampunk heart.  Look forward to seeing your ATCs using that technique
Beckyb

vonny

what a fabulous range of projects Rachel -lots of techniques and styles -think you were quite restrained in your purchases! Am sure you will use what you learned in other things you make  Smile
NuttyRachy

Thank you everyone, Becky, it was Dabble Day with Loobi Crafts (www.loobicrafts.co.uk) which is a shop in Leighton Buzzard. Also the place the event was held. There weren't any guest speakers or anything this time but I know they have had them in the past. The lady who owns the shops thought up and prepared every single craft herself. Then used her happy helpers so there was one person manning each desk to show everyone what to do.
Beckyb

It certainly as  looks as though you are had fun a great idea not sure how far Leighton Buzzard is from us will google it at some time but going to look into the craft shop never heard of it.
vonny

quite a way Becky as it is about 30 mins drive from Luton. Lovley town tho with a yarn shop, fabric shop and art shop as well as Loobi's and a market twice a week. They also have a narrow guage railway!
Beckyb

Well you never know might have a day out that way some time. x
vonny

let me know if you are ever over this way and we'll meet up. It is also not too far from Whipsnade zoo or the Tree Cathedral if others need entertainment. It also is on the canal for those who like boat watching.

Made my best friend a "New Home" 3D pop up card last night and was a little chuffed with how it came out. So here it is.

It is flatten to go into the envelope and then I've attached "pull" tabs on the sides to bring them out with ease so it can stand. Looking through the window shows a hidden home of the house-y type stamps I used. A chandelier (embossed with silver), a grandfather clock and a Silhouette photo frame which can be seen whilst the card is flattened. I forgot to take a picture of the clock, but you can just about see it to the left in the bottom left picture. Sorry they're not clearer, was taken last minute last night before I sent it off today.
margaret rorie

A lovely card - very different. I'm sure your friend will be thrilled. Margaret
vonny

wow Rachel -this is quite amazing! you really took a lot of trouble over it and I'm sure your friends will love it. Did you use a template or design it yourself?
Mickie

Rachel this is fabulous.  Do you do step by step instructions?
Beckyb

That is lovely and very apt to moving home x
NuttyRachy

I got the template from a website

http://www.diyvalley.com/made-a-beautiful-3d-house-greeting-card/

I printed it out and used it to create a bigger, blank outline and then decorated it myself with stamps on the front and back and then glued it together.

Had a fancy dress party this weekend with the theme of "Cartoons". Thought I'd let you see what other crafty I things I've been up to. Namely our outfits:-

Hello ladies,

I've been able to get my craft on a little bit last month with some thank you cards for a couple of friends who have been very generous recently. Here are the finished products so far:-

Was a little lazy in using the same colours but both the people who I made these cards for happen to have the same shade of green in their living room! Love making things match Razz

I have also been busy for the last 6 months or so collecting cinema tickets from films me and my boyfriend have attended. I finally got enough and have made a shadow box for him as an anniversary present next month. I've created a slot in the top for us to slip in all our ticket stubs for shows and concerts we have been to so far and will no doubt go to in the future. I'm pretty proud of this one.

I used a cheap £2 frame from Poundstretcher, mod podge'd on our photo and a "admit 2" print out from google on the glass. Mod podge'd on our cinema ticket to a cardboard box I made to measure. Glue gunned the frame to the cardboard, stuck on the backing of the frame and then used black gaffer tape to hold the whole thing steady in it's place.
vonny

I love your ticket collection box Rachel -what a great idea  Very Happy
Cards are beautiful too -the one with 9 squares must have taken ages. Never thought to match cards to peoples decor  Smile
Mickie

love the ticket box Rachel.  Super idea.

Hello everyone,
First of all, my apologies for flying off the radar the last few months. My mind has been filled with family drama (yes, wedding related), plus the actual wedding plans themselves and dealing with my mum being very ill. But things look to be on the up! My mum was given the all clear this week (hurrah!), the family drama seems to have subsided, which just leaves me to my last few wedding bits and pieces to sort (less than 6 weeks to go!)

In amongst all this business, my sister and I managed to pull away for a craft dabble day in Leighton Buzzard today. Just like my first post, we did 6 projects in the day, and here they are...

Roger Robot Industrious Metal Card.
This cute little guy can move his arms, legs and head around.

Pocket Watch White Rabbit Card
We used a mask over the rabbit while we used stencils to create the red clocks and diamonds. The little hands on the clock can be moved to wherever you wish.

Paperartsy Daisy Card
Pretty simple process to get a quite intricate design. Loads of texture on the background with ripping up, gluing and distressing.

Fran's Stentangle Bird Card
This was one of my favourites. I do love a good zentangle session. We drew the outline with a stencils and doodled the rest. Others coloured theirs in but I prefer the black and white effect.

Finnabair Tissue Stamping
Interesting new technique learned here. Stamp onto 2ply tissue. Keep just the top ply and tear around the stamped image. Then use matt multi medium to stick it onto the board. The tissue pretty much disappears leaving a full stamp visable. Very good way to use a clear image on a textured background.

Texture Paste Jungle Friends Wobbler
This cute little guy is one I'm keeping to give to my Paul as he loves elephants. The background is covered in textured paste and coloured with distress inks. His little head bobs around as we used wobble springs, which were a new thing to me.
Beckyb

Nice to see you back sorry to hear about your Mum. Great cards you have been busy x
