Lovely tag Vonny
vonny

scrap ATCS

I started making these as i have got fed up with the ever increasing pile of scraps pieces of paper and card on my desk. i did use some of it but seemed to add even more. this is a simpler version of the leaf tags in Craft Stamper I suppose.
anwyay here are three backround ATCs. there will be a bit of stamping next.
Have made about 12 in total and almost all the scraps have now gone!

Well done Vonny.  It's always satfisfying to use up scraps!  Especially when you never want to throw anything away!

They look lovely Smile
Jennie

They look lovely Vonny.  I intend to have a go at this at some point.  I have a HUGE box of bits.
Beckyb

Well done Vonny I keep meaning to but never get around to it

You are good using all your scraps this way.  I used to save my scraps and then I ended up with a huge great box full and eventually just to make space I threw them all out! Embarassed

I couldn't bring myself to chuck them so made myself use them instead. Always good to set yourself a challenge Smile

thank you all for your kind comments

this technique was being demo'd at my local craft shop toady, so rushed home and tried it straight away (very unusual for me but it is quite a quick technique).
Black card. Use some glue that goes tacky when clear and add squiggles to one edge and spread it with finger. Once tacky take some gilding flakes (best tipped into a sandwich box for ease of use) pour over and rub onto glue with fingers. Keep rubbing to burnish and remove stray bits which go back into box. Spritz other side with mica sprays (I used gold and silver). Dry with heat gun. Emboss with Cuttlebug or similar. (You can use masks which I did, using a rubber sheet and a and c plates and a few shims. depending on which way you put the card in depends on of you get embossed or debossed image.)
Take black Staz on, hold flat and rub over raised image with the flakes on - volia! Very sophisticated I feel

Jennie

Wow Vonny - that's a fantastic quilt.  Well done!
Mickie

The quilt is lovely Vonny.  Your parents will be thrilled to have it.   Laughing

I am glad you were able to do the note holders too.  I think they are both really nice and if there are no takers for the tea cup one, you know where to send it Laughing  Laughing

vonny

Thanks for your lovely comments. Nice to know the tea cup one wil always have a good home if needed! i think this paper was in my SSP subscription pack!
I really did want those pointing fingers for the note boards but they are still out of stock so used the arrows - saved myself a little money too  Smile
vonny

Here is the little journal i have started. Each page is about 2x3 inches so pretty small as you can see as it's by a glue stick. i have done one page and the background for another, just need some journalling on it now.

You have made a fab start Vonny.  I love the colours and the stamp on the first 2 pages especially Smile
Jojo79

Great start Vonny. I would have no idea where to begin.
Beckyb

That looks lovely Vonny love the pages you have done

    Becky x
Jennie

Beautiful work Vonny and a great idea.  How many pages are there in the book?  Again I love the size of it, so very cute.
vonny

Haven't counted the pages but it is pretty fat! Over on UKStampers they are having a weekly journal challenge so I am going to use that for inspiration, even if I don't mange something every week.  Smile
Mickie

That will be something special Vonny.  Love the pages you have done so far and look forward to more Laughing   Have to say that the size really appeals to me too Laughing

Mickie x
vonny

What is hard is stamping on the open pages as it must be about 1 and a half inches high. So far I managed by putting a couple of acrylic blocks under the left hand page
Pat

Very nice journal & love the size.

vonny

Here's anothe page of my journal that I based on the journal challenge on UKStampers. the photo is not me but a stamp cut down   Laughing and i decided to do a portrait gallery type page.

I love the colours Vonny - it's coming along really well.
Jennie

A great idea for a page Vonny.  Perhaps we should have "school memories" as one our themes for next year's ATCs ?
Mickie

Now that is a good idea for a theme Jennie.

Vonny, have been meaning to ask.  How many pages are there in your little journal?

Mickie x
vonny

Don't know mickie, haven't actually counted but it is pretty fat! - makes stamping a bit difficult.
the colours on the last page are those in my old school tie - at least the pink enlivened the bottle green. Laughing
Yes would make a good ATC theme.
Mickie

Well I shall continue to look forward to your pages as they occur.  It will be a very interesting journey.

Here are a couple of cards that I made wih my sticky embossing podwer. It worked well with the foil flakes but I did need a juicy embossing pad to get a good image (used my Versamark in the end). It actually has  a slight texture to it too which I like. the product is called Thermo Tac embossing powder and I got it from Horseshoe crafts at Stamperama

Lovely work Vonny - both the quilt and journal look great

Quilts are beautiful and I particularly like the disappearing one - the tiles all look to be floating on top of one another.

Your journal just goes on and on - awesome Exclamation

Aha, the elusive background paper ATc has been found. the sahdow seems to look better in the scan

I have also been playing with beeswax and these are a couple of the ATCs I made

Click to see full size image

The one on the right is done over the background paper and it is paler in colour. Also any stamping over the top has merged really well. not easy to see but hopefully you can see that they look different
Beckyb

Love what you have done Vonny the atc's are great love the colours

     Becky x
Mickie

Your torn background paper technique has worked very well  Vonny.  Glad you found it Laughing

The beeswax ones look great too.  This is something I have never tried - shame we cannot all get together for a masterclass on this one Laughing

Mickie x
vonny

Hels from the Artistic Stmaper was demoing this at Stamperam in Steveange so perhaps she will do this at another show that they attend. I also did a couple using tissue papaer based on her article in the last CS. The wax really did make it go translucnet and disappear - I have never really had success with tissue papaer before this.

i agree tho a materclass all together would be great fun
vonny

Here are a couple of cards I made at a crafting session with friends using some of the stuff that I bought at the NEC (yes I did buy some things!)

In the London one I have used a clock face stencil for the background. For the owl one i used a tree branch stencil on the right. Also the owl stamp was new.
Both simple. Hope you like them.

Beautiful work Vonny.  I must have missed your quilts and journal while I was away.  Again wonderful work - you've been very busy!
vonny

thanks for the kind comments. Miriam, the London stamp is on a cube, I think by Judikins, that I borrowed from my friend as it went so well with the clock background stencil  Smile
Beckyb

Love what you have done Vonny.

had a crafting session at a friends house and challenged myself to use some Cuttlebug embossing in my cards.I started with the Papermania paper (birdsong) and selected white core card to match then embossed and sanded.  A couple of the cards are below

These are lovely, Vonny.  I have a few embossing folders but don't use them much - will need to set myself a challenge!  Margaret
Mickie

I am now inspired to use the box of embossing folders I have collected.  Thank you Vonny

Mickie x
Jennie

Lovely cards Vonny - I love the style.

I do use my folders alot and there are always little bits in my bits and pieces box which come in handy.  My "must use" at the moment will have to be run ons.  I bought loads in the early days  Rolling Eyes and never ever use them now, so I'm going to have to get some out on the desk and use them.

I am still using my "bags" of papers I made up at the beginning of the year.  One a month.  I've hardly made a dent in them  Laughing
Miriam

Lovely cards Vonny Smile
vonny

thanks for your comments - Jennie what are run ons? Confused
Jennie

Ha Ha - Rub Ons - oh the joys of mis-typing  Very Happy
vonny

oh - I really thought they were something I hadn't heard about!
I quite often use rub on letters to add text to cards or ATCS, useful for the word that you just don't have as a stamp. You always end up with loads of Qs and Zs and not enough vowels tho  Sad
Beckyb

lol i was going to ask the same question Vonny.

Love what you have done Vonny I really must use my embossing folders more

  Becky x
vonny

here is the fabric book that I made for a challenge for the 10th anniversary of my local quilting shop. You bought a pack with some fabric, beads and yarns and could make anything you liked provided you used some of each. You could add anything else you liked. i had great fun using techniques from stamping and trying some new sewing skills to.
I have called it "feel the read"

What will you do with it?  I speak as someone seriously running out of room Wink

Mickie x
vonny

Hadn't thought beyond taking it into the shop for it to go into the exhibition/competition.
i reckon i will just have it on hand tho to stroke at times.
You are right tho, I often see things in CS and elsewhere and think I'd love to do it ..but where would it go  Confused
Mickie

This must be a problem that all crafters have.

It would be a shame to put something so nice in a box/drawer and forget about it.

Mickie x
vonny

I have just finished this quilt for my friend as a gift. The pattern is called storm at sea and gives a wavy effect altho it is all straight lines. It is made from lots of differnt fabics for a scrappy effect so i called it Scrappy Storm.I also used some photo fabric for the label which you can print onto with your printer and added my photo!
