W10/Y5

Sunny again today but pretty cold. No line dancing again -have asked the staff to let me know if it is one next week -but they don't seem to have a clue what is going on!
Did some spinning this afternoon.

made a mini quilt for the Xmas tree!
Jennie

Still wallpapering but the end is in sight Smile

The mini quilt sounds interesting Vonny.

Bet you will be glad to finish the wallpapering Jennie it will be worth it in the end.
Mini quilt does sound fun is it for a cot or to put over ones's legs when cold in the evening.
What did you do in class Mickie
I am having a day in and playing.

Woo Hoo!  My mini workshop went really well and they have asked if I would do another.  Came home on a high and couldn't believe how nervous I had been through the day.  Maybe that was because they were all people I know.  I had them making a mini brag book from one page of 12x12, decorating it and making tags from a page of coordinating A4 card.

Off to a birthday tea this afternoon at the new Tea Shop in town.  It is all very red, white and blue and on one day of the week you can have your palm read or a tarot card reading and for all I know, they might even have a crystal ball!  Sadly I do not know which day of the week this all happens and I am hoping it is not today.  Otherwise I am sure the afternoon will be fun.
Jennie

So glad your workshop went well Mickie and lovely they have asked you back. I am sure you will start to feel less nervous on the next one and start enjoying it!

The wallpapering is finished   Very Happy just waiting now for son Robin to do the tiling around the sink and then we can go and get a new bit of carpet. It does look lovely and I am now thinking about new colour towels and ornamental pieces.

In the theatre now for panto rehearsals and it is rather alarming doing you dance bit and coming up against a whopping tree! We tried our Merry Men costumes out tonight and they look great  - we have a great team on the wardrobe.

Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow - very dark, wet and windy here today.
Beckyb

Well done on your mini workshop Mickie and how lovely to be asked to do another one.
Sorry Vonny read your post and the bit about mini quilt and christmas tree I didn't read in same sentence a senior moment  Laughing
Good you have finished your decorating Jennie and I am sure you will be alright on the night for your panto.
You are all so busy and here's me doing nothing and more tired than the rest of you put together.

Glad that your workshop went well Mickie - I always think it's worse speaking in front of folk you know.

Really enjoyed your workshop on Tuesday Jennie and have got into next week's one too.

I've been decorating this week too but no wallpapering involved only emulsioning the front hall. I'm happy to get it done - one more thing off the list!

I went to a charity concert with a friend last night - it was amazing! Lots of local musicians and also Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham. You may have heard of them as they are professional musicians. Aly is a Shetland fiddler and Phil is an accordionist - they are great musicians and very entertaining.

I've got my yoga class tonight so looking forward to that  - I always enjoy the relaxation at the end. Margaret

well done on a succeeful workshop mickie -soon you will be doing as many as Jennie
Also well done to Jennie and Margaret on getting wallpapering and painting completed -always looks better after the hard work.
Becky -had to laugh- the mini quilt is about 3.5 inches square!!

Made mini Xmas stockings with my group today -some stuck them and others had a go at sewing -some different ways of doing this! All happy with their finished items tho
Mickie

We all seem to be busier than ever at the moment.  Must be those long dark evenings that get us going. Wink

Vonny I am confused with the mini quilt for the Christmas tree.  I understood it to be a small quilt to wrap around the pot, or for the pot/tree to stand on.  Do I take it that it is really an ornament for the tree?  How do you quilt something so small?  It must look quite lovely.

Jennie and Margaret congratulations on completing the decorating projects.  I have been psyching myself up to do my porch but think it will have to wait till the spring now I have the heating on.

Becky you shouldn't beat yourself up, you probably have much more interesting journals than the rest of us - at least you take time out to do them and not just think about it.  Lovely they are too
vonny

yes the quilt is one to hang on the tree as a decoration -will take pic at some point. Had a day doing chores  Sad but done now. Need a visit to the pc store as screen has no red (getting used to it now!0 and backspace key has started sticking!
Beckyb

Well got up this morning to sunshine so put towels in washing machine now pouring with rain I can't win. Off to catch up with friends later and then tomorrow we can have the day in bliss. Did some painting of journal pages last night so nice and dry for me to do later.

Dull day outside but I expect the rain will come this way at some stage.  Have decided to tidy up my craft room so it will be an interesting day
Jennie

Have had a good day catching up with DT pieces - I had another three sets of things to do this month, so a little stretched Laughing

The weather has been awful all day and I have not even poked my nose out of the door ! wet, windy, cold and very dark. Not good for taking "how to" photos Laughing
Beckyb

Well my towels are still hanging outside very wet  Laughing guess I will have to bring them in.
Playing today and enjoying it.

Gave up on tidying as came across a book that needed finishing, although a finished book will be put away so perhaps I'm still tidying really Laughing

Shame about your towels Becky

Happy Sunday everyone
margaret rorie

Reading a book always wins over tidying with me! I've had a most enjoyable weekend going to the local book festival. I was at a talk this morning by the author of a book on Shetland food and cooking. So of course I bought the book! It's very intersting and is more than a cookery book. Might even try some of the recipes.

Hope the weather improves next week. It's been a miserable weekend here and has been so dark. As Jennie says, not the best light for taking photos.
vonny

Mickie -what a great piece of cosoinds like a great event -let us know if you cook anything.
went for a walk this morning in the fog -not much view but the exercise was welcome. Finished plying the current lot of wool that I have been working on then did my tag -great to get a bit inky.
Got friends coming round tomorrow afternoon for a craft session so hope to get a few cards done
