W14/Y6

Morning all another Monday damp and breezy here. Tegan is 14 today  so going to catch up with her and then do some Xmas shopping hopefully we will get it finished. x
vonny

they grow up so quickly don't they? Hope the Xmas shopping goes ok -mine is done but I don't have much thankfully. Back to line dancing today -and remebered most of the dances too. Knitting in the library tomorrow to have to cast on a pair of simple socks ready. Also got to do 2 bobbles for the hats!
vonny

I have posted the new 2016 challenge -hope you like it and find it inspiring  Smile
Beckyb

Like the challenges Vonny it should get me thinking.
It is Molly's 1st birthday today she is my youngest grandchild meeting up with them later to get Molly her 1st pair of proper shoes so this will be the last pair I have to buy for a while. Weather is awful here very wet x
margaret rorie

Great challenges Vonny - like the idea of using these as inspiration for any project.

I've got my Xmas cards written but it seems a bit early to post them. Still have to write some emails - do these instead of the annual letter!

I've finished my Viking assignment so having a break from studying for a wee while. Hope to do some crafting now.

Hope you have an enjoyable day with your family Becky - children grow up so quickly!
Jennie

Yes like you Margaret the cards are nearly all done, but it does seem a little early to post. Amazingly we have only received one card so far and that was from someone going away, so perhaps everyone is leaving it a little later this year.

I am still knitting Clangers at every opportunity. The first one didn't come out very well so I am having to adapt the pattern. Nearly finished the new model !

It is a blowy day here today but the sun is shining so I might get a walk soon. Then I am having a crafting afternoon - working with DT projects but thoroughly enjoying the new Deco Art products - especially the crackle. I feel as though I am crackling just about everything in sight. Terry and Aimee had better watch out  Laughing
Mickie

In case anyone was wondering - I haven't gone awol voluntarily - wrote a long post on Sunday evening and, the forum crashed and that was that Rolling Eyes  Didn't have the heart to start again - it was pretty late too so I just went to find my bed.

Last book club of the year on Sunday.  Another good day out and catch up on everyone's news.  Now I have two book club projects that require decoration.  Thank goodness for the Christmas break - I am hoping to get them both done then.

I seem to be running about chasing my tail at the moment.  Christmas cards not written - I think I shall be doing them by delivery occasion at the moment.  This means writing a few cards every day as required by who I will see at that evening's social event!

We had the Art Class lunch yesterday which was very nice with much laughter and only one of our number had the festive menu!  The rest of us played it safe with something off the everyday lunch menu.  Tonight I'm out with Tuesday Group for the full festive meal, however, I shall be driving so no booze

Weather seems to have settled down to just being what you might expect in December.  This is good because at least then you know what to wear when you go out Wink
vonny

love the idea of everything and everyone getting crackled Jennie.
My cards are done and sent but I seem to do fewer each year -did receive my first one today- Mike has to check in case they are birthday cards  Laughing
Did a bit of crafting this afternoon and got some ATCs done so feeling on top of things. Xmas tree is down form the loft so will probably go up tomorrow as we are having friends for dinner on Thurs before they go off on a narrow boat to live and won't be back down this way for a couple of years  Sad
Beckyb

You are a busy lady Mickie I am out for craft club Xmas meal on Thurs. Molly's shoes have to be ordered so will have to go back when they come in.
We are over at Dad's for all of Xmas just him,Keith and me so going to be very quiet. I am having a day in to craft  Laughing  and some ironing  Confused  what ever that is. x
Mickie

That sounds so romantically cool Vonny, living on a narrowboat Cool

I don't usually put my tree up until the Sunday before Christmas.  However, I have wanted a twig tree for a while and this year I caved in and sent for one as it was so well priced.  Imagine my surprise when the 14 inch with lights one that I ordered turned out to have a big brother 24 inches with no lights.  (They were both in the same box!)

Nowhere to store it without resorting to the loft so I have it sitting on a low cabinet and the twiggy branches have been hung with keys, tickets, receipts, and other seasonal delights.  Works quite well!  I bought some felt robins at a Christmas fair and they are on it now, together with a pair of ear-rings that suited the season and some little bauble berries from the crackers we had at last night's lovely dinner.  Going to the same venue for another festive dinner (but different menu) next week so I shall make sure I collect all the baubles from everyone's crackers!

Now as if all this frivolity hasn't been enough I'm off to my favourite Italian restaurant tonight which has become a bit of a tradition with this particular friend.  We usually come home with a boxed Pantone Yeast Cake each.  Lovely!!
vonny

mmm -I have a pile of ironing too Becky  Sad
Mickie your twig tree sounds really arty and love the idea of using all those bits you get with crackers. think you will have eaten too much for dinner on Xmas day tho! Smile
Beautiful sunny day so took the opportunity to go for a walk on the Down's -wind a bit cold but not too gusty.
Then put the tree up -I still have some of the decorations we made to swap a few years ago.
vonny

last art and craft group today as Xmas dinner next week instead  Smile
Friends didn't make the dinner as unwell but aiming to pop to see them tomorrow as they plan to go up to their boat on Saturday.
Beckyb

Sorry your friends are poorly Vonny hope you manage to catch up with them before they leave and that they are feeling better before they leave.
I have a stinking headache started yesterday I have cards to make challenges to finish. x
Mickie

Shame your dinner didn't go ahead Vonny and I hope your friends are better now and on the canal.

Very disappointing Christmas meal on Thursday.  We have been going to this venue for some years now and it has always been very good.  However, after this year's disaster we shall be looking to go elsewhere.  Such a shame when a good eaterie goes down.  Takes quite a long time for a good reputation to be regained.

The postman has just delivered my Clarity Club instalment and I'm off to make a cuppa and have a read, if not a bit of a play.
vonny

hope your headache is better now Becky

It is always a shame when a meal is disappointing Mickie -it is very easy to lose a reputation and hard to get it back again -hope the Clarity club delivery made up for it  Smile

My friends aren't going to their boat until Tues now so are popping round later for a farewell.

Had a buy day yesterday with piano lesson then crafting at a freinds house then popping in to see my brother and sister in law while they were visiting my parents. So taking it easy today -may make mince pies later as the first batch have already disappeared  Shocked

A lovely afternoon watching the Bolshoi ballet at the local cinema - it was very nice to just sit down and not do anything  Laughing  and just enjoy it!

We (haha! - I) have now got all the presents parcelled up for sending south and all the christmas cards made, written and letters where necessary. I can start living again now! Just need to finish the Clangers and a pair of arm warmers. I have to say I was very pleased with the little dressing up apron I made Caitlyn (Holly from Ben and Holly) put together with some wings and a wand makes for a lovely dressing up set for a two year old.

Sorry to hear about your headache Becky - I hope you are feeling better soon. Such a lot going on at this time of the year no wonder we are stressed! Same about your meal too Mickie - always such a disappointment when you have built yourself up for something.

Start of another week tomorrow - EEEK! (to borrow a phrase from some of my US friends!)
Mickie

The fun started when I woke up this morning and found I couldn't get out of bed.  My back was locked.  I lay there thinking "Don't panic, don't panic...."  Seemed to have some positive effect as I was able to wriggle about and then miraculously, managed to get up and get ready for the day ahead.  Back loosened up and so long as I didn't do anything silly like picking something off the floor I thought I would be ok.

I got to the Art Class end of year exhibition, also managed to get to M&S for Dine In offer, had a rest when I finally got home and then put the back into lock mode again by bending over to load the oven Rolling Eyes To make it even worse I sat on the sofa during the evening and when it was time for my friend to leave, found I couldn't get up Embarassed

Now on my way to bed with fingers crossed that I shall wake up in the morning pain free and mobile.  Especially as I have last minute cards to post and a present still to get, not to mention I have the last hairdressing session of the year in the afternoon.
