I'm still on holiday in Orkney so sitting in the library writing this. Can't seem to get wifi anymore in our house down here. It's been a lovely day here today with no rain or wind! I'm missing my crafting - very limited in what I can do. Supposed to be going home on the boat on Thursday but more gales forecast.  Sad
I hope you have all had an enjoyable festive season. Margaret
Jennie

I hope you have a smooth trip Margaret, although the weather is not looking good. Yes lovely and calm here today as well, but the wind is now building.

It is nice to be getting back to normal - normal ?  Confused
Mickie

Hope you get back to Shetland soon Margaret, or at least find some crafty bits and pieces to do. Wink
Sarah

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year!  Am writing this on new ipad which (unlike the old one) can take photos .  Mickie (or anyone else) did you find an easy way of getting photos from ipad onto forum website in the end?
vonny

lucky you Sarah with a new i pad -did you know there are some good AAC apps where you can take photos and videos as well as download stuff from the net? Don't know if you are interested but pm me if you want more info
Miriam

Evening all...

Hope you get back safely Margaret.

The new IPAD must be lovely Sarah Smile

Back at work today - busy day - not going to Plymouth this week and going to start to try to scale it back to every fortnight
Mickie

Sarah, you just take a photo as normal and then follow the instructions that appear on the forum after you tap on Attach File.  Beware it can take a moment or three and Apple being Apple don't give you any hope by showing a timer type thing!

If you have an iPhone too, it works the same way.

Hope that helps
Beckyb

Hope work hasn't been too bad for you Miriam.
Hope you have your I-Pad sorted now Sarah.
It is cold and frosty but the sun is shining we are popping out for a while today we need some shopping.

Looks like we might be stuck in Orkney for a bit longer due to bad forecast! Would rather stay here than have a bad trip on the boat!

Lovely to hear from you you Sarah - you will love your iPad once you get used to it. It is so easy to put photos onto forums etc.

Hope everyone is well. Margaret
Mickie

Went out to lunch today with a friend.  We had a lovely catch up and the food wasn't bad either.  Nice to be getting back to normality

Hope going back to work was not too much of a shock to the system Miriam

Looking at the weather forecast, it seems you will be on Orkney for a few more days Margaret.  If you had known this would happen, what crafty stuff would you have taken with you to pass the time?

thinking about it, what would you all take with you in a basic crafty kit?
Beckyb

It would be really hard to know what to take Mickie I would have to have a ink pad,set of stamps pens, pencil and colouring pencils and my Journals.

It is very wet here been raining all night we have to go shopping today and I have craft club tonight my wrist has settled day so hope I can get back to stamping.

Jennie

An early start to get my car to the garage for 8am - bit of a shock to the system  Shocked But it meant we were at Tesco's for 9 and home by 10, so the rest of the day is free  Laughing Just hoping to get through the MOT without too costly a bill - the car is now nearly 11 years old but I love it!

It is very dark, cold wet and windy here, but due to get worse tomorrow and Saturday, so I am not planning on going anywhere.

Enjoy the craft club Becky.
Mickie

Cold wet and windy here too.  My back garden is flooded - water is an inch deep so hoping rain holds off for a little while so that the water can drain away

Amazing what you can achieve when you get up early.  Wish I could do it every day however, part of me refuses to rise around the time I had to when I was working so I just read my book for a while or doze off again or both Laughing

Becky Uncle B has arrived.  Thank you very much.  I shall have to get a couple more I think to keep him company as he is my very first Stampotique stamp.  I held off getting any because they are all wood mounted but the possibilities in journalling are endless with this kind of character I feel.

Off to be pampered this afternoon.  Lovely
vonny

Had a nice day out with my vomunteering group -we went to a local art exhibition then round the museum where it was held. It has recently been revamped and there were lots of "I remember that" to some of the displays. Then we had a lesuirely lunch at a local hungry horse -lovely
Everyone chose their favourite art piece and we are going to sue this as our focus in the session next week.

Thanks Mickie- I will try that.  You make it sound very easy.  Thought I would have to buy some expensive App. I don't have an Iphone.  I will try it...
Sarah

That was amazing - so easy!  Thanks Mickie! In the absence of any recent creative work (apart from Miriam's card) I have posted a picture of a house we are trying to renovate in Le Marche.  We have been wading our way through Italian bureacracy for relevant planning permission etc, but hoping things will move swiftly ahead soon... would be great to get most of it done before we return to UK.

Hi Vonny. Used my old Ipad quite extensively for SLT purposes but as it had no camera it was not particularly well suited for AAC, so have never really explored that.  Do not really need AAC apps at the monent as it is all pretty high level mainstream school stuff, but would be interested anyway - and have no idea what I will do next!  Will pm you x

What beautiful scenery Sarah - renovating a house anywhere must be a challenge but more so in a foreign country.

As expected, we're stuck in Orkney due to high winds tonight. Next boat is on Saturday night but the winds are going to be worse then so don't know when we'll get home! They are predicting winds of over 100 miles an hour.

As far as crafting supplies go, I try to limit myself but having the car lots of supplies seem to come with me. i don't like to miss the Less is More challenge even on holiday! Margaret
Mickie

Glad to have been of assistance Sarah.  Margaret got me going in the end so really I suppose it is all down to her that we can post photos!

Not sure if it is of interest to you but if you want to do a screen shot then just simultaneously press the button on the top side where the charging lead goes in and the on/off switch at the other side.  The shot automatically finds its way into Photos!  Lovely looking house by the way.  Good luck with the renovations.

Margaret that is becoming scary - who knows when you will be able to return home!  Just as well you don't have to go into work Wink

Your day with your group sounded lovely Vonny.  Obviously no inclement weather where you are today

Hope your car got through its MOT painlessly Jennie

Glad your wrist has settled Becky but try not to overdo it at the craft club tonight
Jennie

Fabulous Sarah! I remember seeing the photos when we were in Rome last year. It really looks a wonderful place.

Good luck Margaret !!!!!  Apparently the 100 mph winds go down to 80 mph just as they reach Shetland. Not sure that they will though! I think it should be calm about Tuesday  Laughing Lots of thunder and lightning forecast again, so broadband and electricity might be off too. What fun !

Looks as though my car will be having an extended stay at the garage as it failed its MOT on actually quite a minor thing, but needs other things done to the rusty bits and pieces. Obviously bits I can't see as the "top sides" are still looking good!  I get the quote tomorrow   Crying or Very sad
Mickie

Oh dear Jennie, hope the repairs aren't too big a shock for the budget.

It's a bit damp and gloomy out there today so far.  Maybe it will cheer up later.  On the plus side it isn't so cold and the blackbird continues to bathe in the old washing up bowl in the garden   Laughing

Nothing planned for today so I think I will do some crafting

Morning Becky - see you are online as well.  How was the crafting last night?
Beckyb

Morning Mickie didn't really do anything at club wrist went again yesterday so back to square 1. Glad Uncle Buck arrived safely Mickie have fun with him you will get addicted to them  Laughing

Hope it is not too long before you get home Margaret at least you have somewhere to stay and not forking out for a hotel.

Hope the car is not too serious Jennie and does not cost too much.

Nothing planned for today so will go with the flow.

hearing your weather makes our rather windy weather seem nothing! Hope you make it home soon Margaret -sounds like it will be a less is less challenge! Laughing
Sarah the house looks really isolated -what a beautiful location! Bet it needs loads of work . Do pm me as I have some SLT stuff I will be getting rid of as I don't think I will go back to it now

Knitting group this morning had to change venue to someone's house as the hall was closed -but still got to meet up with people. Did some ironing this afternoon -at least it keeps you warm!
Miriam

Evening all.

Hope Jennie and Margaret are ok with the storms.  The weather is really gusty here.

Had a very busy week at work - tomorrow I plan to do washing and crafting.  Got myself some yummy stampin up goodies to play with!!

Let's hope the weekend goes really slow!
Jennie

Well the wind wasn't as bad here as in Orkney - worst to come tonight though and through tomorrow - 90 mph plus. However we have had rather a number of power cuts this afternoon - a pole was on fire up the road apparently.

I had hoped to have a fine time crafting this afternoon but with no lights on it was rather dark! so I had to resort to reading my kindle with a torch.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy those stamps Miriam - what did you get ?
Mickie

Seems to have been windier in the night than I thought - this morning there were bins all over the road (not to mention the contents) and a couple of satellite dishes!  Couldn't see where they had come from.

Ann Cleves could use that (telegraph pole)  in her next book Jennie - she could call it Night Flame and of course the yummy Inspector with the Spanish surname would star............

Yes, do tell Miriam, what are the stamps?  Think you are onto a loser for the weekend to go slow, particularly when you have new crafty goodies to speed things up Laughing Worth a try though!

Enjoy your afternoon ladies, whatever you may be doing
Miriam

Pleased everyone is safe.  Hope you got power back Jennie.

I have managed to have a play this weekend.  Used my Stampotique Moustache Monsters for the 1st time - love it.

My Stampin' Up goodies were from the spring catalogue... I bought the berry basket die - which is divine!  Also got the butterfly stamps and framelits and a few other bits and bobs.  Qualified for free sale a bration items so got the lotus flower set - which I can't stop using, and the one with the bird and lemon.  I was lucky enough to win the friend one at training in December!

I'm not sure I said but I did quit Stampin Up last January and then re-joined!!  Couldn't stay away!! LOL!

Have beef roasting in the oven and will hopefully have some more craft time later.  Need to try to upload my photos too so that I can show you what I've been creating
Jennie

Great choices Miriam! Enjoy using them.

Well we are safe and only suffered a little damage in yesterday's storm which topped 100mph. 115 mph recorded at the Sellaness Oil Terminal. We lost three slates and our lovely garden fences and two gates are all broken - they were lovely, made by Terry. The very heavy metal wheelbarrow is nowhere to be seen!  Bracing ourselves for tomorrow's blow which is forecast to be 90 mph. Mind you it is blowing hard with torrential rain at the moment. No boats for a few days now, and I understand Tesco and the Co-op are pretty empty. I have a freezer full of meat but not a lot of veg, so we won't starve!

Keep safe everyone x
Mickie

Can't believe it!  Just written a fairly long post and it has disappeared!  It is probably user error but annoying nonetheless!

Miriam love the sound of the Mustache Monsters - not to mention the rest of your new goodies - look forward to seeing what you have dome with them all.

Jennie, when you get a storm up there you don't do it by halves!  Good job you keep a well stocked freezer.  Do the supermarkets take long to re-stock?  I can imagine they look as though the locusts have been.  Fingers crossed the weather will improve so you can get your repairs underway and Margaret can get home!

Becky have you considered getting one of those Fishers stamping thingies!  I tried one once and was amazed at how easy it was to use.  Might help your wrists.
vonny

yesterday we had some torrential rain and it was windy but nothing like you northern people! Today has been frosty and sunny -don't think we were expecting that. Popped into a newish Poundland yesterday and they had a few nice craft pieces. I got some animal skin style papers -2 sheets of 6, each one A3 and good quality -pretty good for a quid, also some mini tags and some chipboard die cuts. Better than the cleaning stuff I usually buy!
margaret rorie

Just got off the boat this morning - trip up was very good and I slept most of the night.  Wind seems to be getting up here now so glad to be home. Today will be spent unpacking and sorting stuff out.  Then I want to see what challenges I need to do this month.  I did make a start on the Craft Stamper ATC when I was away so need to finish that and then think about the deep embossing one.

Hope you are all well and that the weather is not too extreme where you are! Margaret
Beckyb

Glad you got home ok Margaret at least you have your craft stuff now  Laughing

   Becky x
Mickie

Glad you are home safe Margaret

Wind and rain here.  Hoping it will die down soon as I need to get some food in.
Maybe things will improve when the tide turns, it not I shall just have to grin and bear it Laughing

Enjoy your day everyone
vonny

glad you got back safely Margaret -nice to be back with all your craft stuff!
