W3/Y5

Morning ladies another monday but it is a sunny one today a bit chilly though I have had a lovely weekend in another day in today but going to a workshop tonight I am having a mini workshop on spectrum noir pens.

Very chilly this morning but lovely and warm later. Had a crafting session with friends and made a start on my tag but lost a piece in transit. Easily replaced tho  Smile
Mickie

Bet your workshop was really good Becky.

I confess I was sitting up in bed reading at 6.30am and wearing a cardi that will henceforth be used as a bed jacket.  I never thought I would see the day I would have one of them Laughing

Nice warm day though and long may they continue

We were shown how to blend last night so will doing some of that today.Weather here is like pea soup and is getting worse rather than better glad I am staying in. My Mum knitted me a bed jacket a few years ago now must drag it out.

Very warm here in Portugal so making the most of the sunshine. Only one more day here and then a couple of days in Edinburgh on the way back. Need to visit M&S etc! And there is one craft shop I know near our hotel so will need to have a look.

Hope you're all well. Margaret
vonny

sounds good Margaret -and lovely to visit a craft shop too  Smile
It's just that you have time to sit around and read in bed that you need a bed jacket /cardi mickie -nothing to do with age!
Mickie

Definitely a good holiday Margaret when there's a craft shop thrown in too.

Can't wit to see your blending Becky - sounds a good workshop that you go to.

Thanks Vonny, that's made me feel better.  I have finished my book now so firing up the Kindle as I haven't been reading since I stopped working, except when on the bus or train. Reading a book from front to back has been a joy.  Think I shall do this every time I wake up at Sparrows o'clock

I have cut down my reading a bit and try to only read 2 books a week now! I can easily read one in 2 days but then I don't do much else and my eyes feel rather gritty. i try to knit more instead  Smile

Morning ladies sunny but cold here and I must admit my heating is on he gets cold in the night  Very Happy .A holiday is always better when you can visit a craft shop hope you find something nice.I am trying to knit a scarf but my fingers don't like the wool I am using so struggling but having fun colouring I feel like a little 6 year old trying to stay in the lines  Laughing that could be a age thing mind you I have my new glasses so I can see better.

Hi everyone bit overcast here so am staying in and getting to grips with the laundry.  So exciting  Laughing

My stone fireplace and new coal effect gas fire were fitted yesterday.  I did try it out in the evening and it was lovely but will try to leave it alone for as long as possible now.  Another something to look forward to I think

I find new specs take a bit of getting used to when it comes to colouring in Becky.  Always amazes me how much brighter the world is with new specs too.

i did smile to think you were trying to read less Vonny and I am trying to read more Laughing

we have had the heating on low for a while in the evenings- but it is nearly October now so don't feel too bad!

Did heat embossing with my group today which was new for them all -and they liked the way the dull powder changes to shiny. It was this that started me on the road to stamping after seeing a demo at a garden centre down in Devon (Endsleigh -and they still have quite a big craft section)

Can we put the birthday art journal page into the challenges please Margaret so we can post finished pages there -and it will be easier to find (including the cut off date which I have gorgotten already)?
thanks
Mickie

Glad you mentioned the journal Vonny - I did make a note but it has gone walkabout.

A heat embossing demo is what started me off too. It seemed quite magical at the time.  Glad your group enjoyed it.  What have you got for them next time?

Glad your group enjoyed  the heat embossing I must say that is how I started stamping as well Vonny I still like watching it change. I am having a day in have a few ideas running round my head lets see if they turn out ok.
I have been good and put a casserole in slow cooker it give Keith a break from cooking as I can look after it.

Vonny could you set up the journal challenge please as I'm not entirely sure about how to do it. The cut off date we agreed was 25 October. Now I'll need to get thinking!

It doesn't matter how often you do heat embossing it is always magical. I use it a lot when water colouring as it keeps the colours separate.

Have now reached Edinburgh and am about to hit the shops! Hope everyone is well. Margaret
vonny

OK Margaret I'll do it -but for info once in correct forum/thread you hit the 'new topic' button (at the end), add a title then your message -really easy.

Mickie the group is going to do some paperweaving next week as well as making a card for one of their members who is not well
Jennie

Crikey where did that week go  Shocked We seem to have been ultra busy buying sofas, doctors appointments (thankfully not me) and panto rehearsals.

Glad you  had a good time in Portugal Margaret - I hope Aberdeen is ready for you  Laughing  I did get to the Paperterie last time I was there and amazingly didn't spend that much.

It has been blowing a hoolie here all day and very dark and gloomy.  I have been doing Tim's tag, getting ready for Shetland Scrapbookers tomorrow and tidying the craft room - I just can't find anything at the moment.

Have a lovely weekend everyone x
Mickie

Good to have you back Jennie - you sound ultra busy as always Laughing

I find paper weaving a little challenging Vonny but I expect your group will do a good job of it

I did an Andy Skinner workshop yesterday and loved every minute.  There's a pic in my gallery.  It was his last one at The Craft Barn for this year and instead of telling us what we were doing he provided boxes of bits band pieces and some foam board pieces and more or less told us to get on with it.  So we did Laughing

Anyone watching Strictly?  I don't usually do the opening shows but wait until about half way through when everyone is talking about it but my goodness what a high standard this time

Had a great couple of days using Tim's Luminary die. I decided to get it although it is rather expensive. I couldn't wait for it to get dark so I could try it with a light behind it!

I can't share the whole project yet as it is a DT piece for the 17th October.  Will put a pic in the gallery on that day  Laughing

The wind has finally stopped blowing and the cow in the field next to us stopped mooing, or whatever it is they do! - ALL night long. I thought it was in labour but Terry thought it probably had tooth ache. Hopefully a better night's sleep tonight  Very Happy
Mickie

Jennie how awful - a cow with toothache.  Doesn't bear thinking about.

Love the luminary, really I do.  It looks a really good project.

Mickie we are only doing flat paper weaving so it should be ok, not a basket or anything tricky!

Poor cow! and sorry it kept you awake Jennie -the project looks fab
margaret rorie

Got back home today so suitcases are unpacked and some of the washing done!

Went to a papercraft show in Edinburgh yesterday - it was very unexpected as I hadn't realised it was on. There was a lot of lovely card which I couldn't buy as I had limited room in the suitcase. I did get some nice dies and a few stamps. Then I came home to find my prize from Less is More had arrived - a set of WOW embossing powders so I've had great fun trying them out. They are glittery so ideal for Xmas cards.

Jennie - your project looks fascinating. Look forward to seeing the rest of it.

Bet you are glad to be home and great to find a craft show to go to.

That must have been the icing on the cake for you Margaret.  Such a lovely surprise an then another one when you got home.  I quite like using melted WOW EP in moulds.  Make lovely flowers.

Mickie x
