I had a brilliant day too Becky.  We decorated a book box and made a wall hanging.  Actually, I have yet to finish my wall hanging - it just needs some chord join the pieces together and form the hangar but it will have to wait until I feel better. Photo in my gallery

Think we can safely say I overdid yesterday and I dosed myself up to get to art class this morning and now I do feel pretty ropey.  Hopefully, shall be back at it tomorrow.

Hope you are all enjoying yourselves and that you are beginning to feel better too Jennie

Mickie -take it easy!! Classes of course must be done but then take it very easy!
Becky -love those stamps especailly that quirky mermaid (am currently planning a journal page around mermaids but need to think about it a bit more). I can imagine that Miriam is a bad influence whne it comes to spending!

My Gelli plate 2 day workshop starts tomorrow -will let you know how it goes!
Mickie

Enjoy the workshop Vonny, so interested to learn what you do.

I have hairdressing in the morning and then I'm going to take it very easy again for the rest of the day.  Not very good at lazing about but I suppose sometimes it's necessary
Miriam

Evening all......I had a great weekend at The Stamp Attic - and it was great to spend the day with Becky yesterday..... I think we are bad for each other! LOL!

I've been poorly today - I knew I would be after such a busy weekend - but it was worth it!!

I only managed to create 1 card today!  I am off tomorrow - have a DR appointment in the morning and told I may not be too good afterwards so I have booked the day off!  I am hoping that I can spend the rest of the day with stamps!
Mickie

Hope you are feeling better than you thought you would Miriam and are able to do some stamping Laughing

Had a nice relaxing time at the hairdressers this morning - unfortunately the base colour did not take too well round the hairline so had to be done again which meant I had an extended stop.   Remembered I have a Stella Rimmington book on my iPhone and so made myself comfy in the chair and read that - nice music playing in the background and a lovely cup of coffee too.  All very relaxing Laughing
Jennie

Glad you all had a great weekend. Sounds as though you were all overdoing it!!!

I am finally starting to recover from this horrible cough/cold virus. Urghh! really nasty. I managed to get to the Thursday night concert (Shetland FolkFestival),although I coughed and spluttered the whole way through (sat on the end of a row with a quick exit if needed) and sipping my lemon and honey drink which nearly got confiscated on the way in as no brought in drinks allowed! I had no voice by the time I got home and could hardly stand and that was it until Monday really. I missed all the concerts and sessions - Terry went on his own and had a great time Crying or Very sad I tried a light trip to Tesco's this afternoon, but am absolutely shattered. So it is going to take a little while. I don't even feel like crafting which is not like me - am knitting instead. Little dolls and dolls clothes which is great fun.

Look forward to hearing about the workshop Vonny - I still have not decided whether to get one yet!
Beckyb

Morning all hope poorly ones are feeling better I had a bad day yesterday and a blinkin headache as well so was not a happy bunny.
Hope you enjoy your workshop Vonny that has come round quickly. Not sure what I am doing must get some cards done only have a couple left and that is May and beginning of June done.

Mickie

Was feeling somewhat improved after my enforced idleness and even managed to make a card.

Just back from a short walk with my friend - we thought a blow might do me some good.  Then we had a cuppa in M&S and watched the sea dancing about for a while.  Feel quite drained now - not even any energy to do some crafting.  Be good to feel hale and hearty again!  Hope there's something on the tv to doze to tonight Laughing

Hope you are all recovering or in the peak of health
margaret rorie

Sorry to hear that some of you haven't been well - shame you missed the Folk Festival Jennie.  It was very good - it always is! There was certainly a wide range of music from all over the world.

I've been busy making invitations for a Golden Wedding which a friend asked me to make.  I was honoured to be asked as I don't usually do this. I'm enjoying having more time for crafting as I've finished my course.

Enjoy the rest of your week whatever you're doing. Margaret
Beckyb

Feeling much more like me today.  The sun is shining, the skies are a nice blue shade and relatively cloudless and the wind has died down a bit.  Have even been doing a bit of weeding in the garden. Laughing

Hope to get my tag done today and make a start on the ATCs - have another idea for the journal too.
vonny

Hi all
sorry to hear that some of you are suffering with the horrid virus -it has been about 7 weeks since mine started and am only now feeling reasonable although still get pretty tired. Strangely Jennie i was able to do a bit of stamping but not knit! Hope to restart line dancing next week then swimming the week after.
Gelli plate workshop -well the lady running it was lovley and had loads of stuff for us all to use...but she did not actually have a lot of different ideas for using the  plate. So on the 2nd day I asked waht she would be teaching us -when she didn't specifiy i showed her some things in the book I had (!) that I wanted to do .She then helped me do these so I did get to extend my skills and having lots of different paints was really good so I could try things before buying! I also mentioned that I wanted to know more about differne paints so she asked the shop owner to talk about these -she really knows her stuff. So in the end it was ok but didn't really do what it said on the tin!! If I hadn't raised my concners I would have been extremely disappointed!  We did use some thermo fax screens which I had never seen -good to know what they are but she really focussed on these more that the Gelli!
Of course spent a bit in the shop -including some Brushos.
Will post some of my samples from the workshop (only the best ones of course) shortly.
Mickie

What a shame you had to "push" a bit for information and sampling on the workshop Vonny.  Glad you did though.  Now, do tell, what is a Thermo screen and why would we want one?  More importantly what sort of cost are we looking at?  Did you use Brushos on the Gelli plate?  How did that work?  I'm sure I've got more questions but these will do for now.  Can't wait to see your samples Laughing
Miriam

Evening all......  I hope you are all starting to feel better.... (saying this next sentence quietly).... I have the weekend to myself!!  I need to do more Ebaying but really really want a rest and some play time!!

We also have a new member - Jo - she is a crafting chum from the Stamp Attic...Jo - pop and say Hi and introduce yourself.... we won't bite...promise!
Beckyb

Hello Jo we met at Stamp Attic and welcome to our group we are a fun lot any questions just ask.

Sounds interesting Thermos Screen as Mickie say's explain please   Laughing

Hope you get some crafting done this weekend Miriam so you can play with all your new stuff.

Why is it so cold off to doc's this morning and then back home to craft.

  Becky x
Mickie

Morning all.  Full of cold again today  Grrrr.  Just when I thought I was on the up too!  Just met my neighbour ad he's the same.  So we shall just have to continue with the honey and lemon.  (Good thing I like honey and lemon Laughing)

Workshop tomorrow with Claudia Neubacher too. Shall not miss that if I have to be carried there!  Happily it is only about half an hour's drive away so not too taxing a journey.

Hope the sun shines for us all over the weekend, especially for those of us still working.

Help Jo, welcome to the group.

Right, back to my ATCs
vonny

Mickie -just how many workshops are you doing nowadays?? Hope you feel better for tomorrow

hi to Jo -always good to have a new member.

Mickie- we did not use Brushos on the course but I wanted some! I did buy another book and in it she uses mixed up dyes to colour white spaces on her prints- I'm sure Brushos would work too. There is also a resist technique I tried where you print with gel medium which is a resist then colour with distress stains -there were none of these or any watecolour type mediums on the course but tried with watered down acrylic but this tended to stain the resist. Have some gel medium now so will try at next gelliping session (yes the verb for Gelli plating!)

A Thermofax screen is like a mesh which has an image put on to it. you then squeege ink/paint through it to put the image onto your project. Is a very quick way to add multiple images. the tutor said they are 20 for a small one (!) but someone had done a workshop just on these screens and had been given 5! There is a sample in my gallery
Mickie

Fantastic!  A new word.  I shall have to do some gelliping very soon.  How is that pronounced; jelly ping or j lip ing (or even something completely different!)?

I think that I like the idea of the Thermofax screen but not sure on the price, especially if more than one is required.

Not sure how many workshops I actually do Vonny - I know they all seem to happen at once!  I'm lucky in that I can get to the Craft Barn - they have quite a lot going on some months and with the fabulous guest tutors they get alongside the super in house team we are spoilt for choice
Beckyb

I agree a great word

Today is the day Mark, Ashlie and Isaac are coming we are going to meet them at the airport later this afternoon so excited  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

Mickie

It must have been a fabulous day for you Becky - try not to overdo the celebration  Laughing

Workshop with Claudia Neubacher was good - really enjoyed it.  Good company too!  We made a tiny shrine and I forgot to take my bits to put in it so will finish it off and upload it soon as.  A very different project which can only be described as Claudia's own way of doing Andy Skinner Cool

Going to go and put feet up now.  The wind and rain of earlier today have gone and the day has turned into a beautiful sunny evening so I think it would be naughty not to enjoy it
vonny

enjoy Becky!
Mickie -sounds like you had yet another great workshop -no wonder you need to take it easy!
I don't know how you say the word as I've only seen ot written down -guess it is up to you.

Went to knitting group this afternoon and popped into the craft shop -got a couple of things but not those I actually wanted (getting to be the norm now)
Also decided to buy a square journal elsewhere so got a 6x6 one -only it's more like 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 -will have to do a bit of trimming (used a 6x6 Gelli plate at the workshop for some of my prints)
Beckyb

Well yesterday was a lovely day but boy a long day,Isaac is adorable so laid back took it all in his stride. Having a quiet day today staying in hope to get some crafting done head still giving me jip
I am finding the same thing Vonny what I want is never in a craft shop so I have starting buying a lot on line which is rather frightening how quick you buy and pay for stuff but it is good post  Laughing I have spent rather a lot so must be good for a little while  Sad  but do need some card so will have to buy that and a new ink pad  Very Happy
Glad you had a good workshop you certainly get some well known names doing them Mickie you are lucky up your way.

Mickie

Glad your day went so well Becky

I'm with you both when it comes to craft purchasing - if I want something specific I go online.  This even goes for my art class supplies - our local art shop has been sold and now does not carry the stock it once did.  I do echo what you say with regard to racking up the plastic Becky, especially when you only want one or two small items and you see that it is free postage over a certain amount Rolling Eyes

Well my crafty purchasing has been curtailed for a while,  My telly died last night so I'm off to get a new one this afternoon.
Jennie

Sounds as though you have had a lovely family time Becky. And you all seem to be attending some lovely workshops. Am I jealous .. yes  Laughing

I am not sure where the last week has gone really - I am still recovering from the cough and cold. Still coughing at times for Britain! We woke to a lovely morning but now it is grey and showery and so I am off to put my feet up and do a bit more knitting. I am totally gone on knitting my dolls!
vonny

I find with online shopping that no one site does all the things I want so I have to order all over the place and pay more P&P. Guess if I do it more often I will start to add a bit to make the P&P free. I alos find it is not always easy to guage the size of stamps.

Jennie- what sort of dolls are you knitting? I currently have a top (from handspun, onion skin dyed yarn) and a pair of socks being knitted and a jacket being crocheted. Want to do a tea cosy too as the one my grandparents knitted me is starting to go into holes  Sad . i do have a pattern to make one in the same style.
Mickie

Art class was almost relaxing this morning.  Now there's a first  Laughing

It is a lovely sunny day so I am going to sit in the sunshine for a while and do some sketching.  I am hoping that the warm sun will have a good effect on my cough.

Vonny I agree with you about gauging the size of stamps on line and having been majorly caught out I have taken to emailing the retailer and querying the size before I commit to purchase
vonny

sketching in the sun..wonderful! Very Happy
