vonny

raining here and I got quite wet walking back to the car after line dancing. Had a quick visit to the Range and Hoobycraft -the latter had very little craft stuff with big gaps on the shelves. Was also looking at acrilyic paints but they were pricey. Did get some foam brushes 4X 1 inch for 1 as the Range but this hardly broke the bank! then went to lunch with ex work colleagues -good to catch up.
Aiming to do some quilting tomorrow but of course may change my mind in the morning  Smile
Jennie

Chucked it down here yesterday as well  Laughing but the afternoon was very nice. I had a good photography class in the morning - we were doing close ups of flowers and so a lot of practical. Fell I am really getting the hang of the camera now - no AUTO anymore!

Today is very overcast and cool (northerly wind again!). Tonight is our first dress rehearsal (first night is on Thursday). Always exciting to get dressed up and the make up on.  Hope you are all having a lovely day x
vonny

good luck with the dress rehearsal Jennie. Here we have had rain and hail inerspersed with a bit of sunshine. Have stayed inside and done some quilting. this evening is the first Craft and Coffee evening- the daytime group are trialling this as so many people said they wanted it -let's hope they brave the weather and turn up. This group has also been nominated and short listed for the local councils volunteering awards -ceremony to be on 2nd June -even if we don't win it is great to have had our work recognised. Very Happy
Mickie

Yesterday was the last art class for a couple of weeks.  Whatever shall I do on Monday? Laughing It was the last watercolour class for a bit and I have mixed feelings.   I don't get on with watercolour so well - need to practice, practice, practice.

Had to have a new dish installed.  It seems that if you live on the coast there's a lot of salt in the air.  Funny that...............!  Wondered why it was corroding. Wink

It has been another sunny, wet, day here so have abandoned dealing with the planting and set to with some cards.  Added to the birthdays this month are get well and leaving cards.

On the plus side my Darkroom Door stamps have arrived and I can have a go at the book project in Craft Stamper Laughing
vonny

did you get the Bookworm set then?
Mickie

Sure did Vonny.  I ummed and ahd then went for it.  They came very quickly, not ordered from Crafty Charlie before and am quite impressed with their service.
Beckyb

I get quite a lot from Craftie Charlie and have no complaints at all last week ordered stamps and paint at lunch time Fri and got it Saturday so I was a happy bunny and you get points. I am sure you will find something to do on a Monday Mickie when you go back what medium are you using.I get my better quality paint from E-bay Vonny if you go on there you can usually get it cheaper. Jennie please slow down you are making me dizzy. Saw Libs yesterday as it was here birthday she was a spoilt little girl she is off to see 1 Direction in Sept in London she screeched with joy .I am staying in today what bliss have to do a ruby anniversary card which has to go in the post by tomorrow.

Another really miserable day here.  I need to go out to the post but don't really want to get soaked although the exercise would do me good.

Have been trying to sort out my course notes for the art class.  Thought it might be good to have them all in order in a folder.  So far all I've succeeded in doing is spreading them all over the dining table Rolling Eyes

Becky we start with acrylics in June and that will be followed by oils.  I think the acrylics will be ok as we use them quite a bit anyway in our crafty world but the oils are a bit scary.  Or maybe not - who knows?

Your Craft and Coffee evening sounded interesting Vonny.  Was there a good turn out?  Well done too, on the nomination and getting short listed.  Good luck with that.
vonny

the evening was not a success. A few memebrs came to support us and a friend of mine -but no-one who it was targetting! we all had a really nice evening tho as the committee don't genreally get much time to actually craft!

Made 3 cards today (like you Mickie not motivated to go out!) using the bookworm set -I got mine from Crafty Charlie's too -like you say quick service and the price was very good, even with p&p!

thanks for the tip re paints Becky but I don't buy from e-bay (not sure why) Have 10 off my next purchase at Art Van Go where I did my course if I spend 20 (not hard to do). So once I have played a bit more I will have to visit.

Look forward to hearing about the oils Mickie -and I'm sure you will learn a lot about the properties of acrylics and the various mediums that can be used with them
vonny

had a walk first thing -lovely and warm and only a gentle breeze. Spent the afternoon quilting -about a sixth left to do then trimming and binding.
Knitting group tomorrow morning  Smile
Have a good bank holiday weekend everyone
Mickie

Another beautiful day.  Hope this is a portent for the summer.  This is also the most gorgeous evening this year.  A few more of these would not go amiss.

Had a bit of a panic this morning when I remembered that my lovely neighbours are moving to Somerset over the weekend and I had't made them a goodbye/good luck card.  So before I did anything else I addressed the situation.

I am off to The Craft Barn tomorrow for a workshop with Neil Walker.  So looking forward to it and to seeing him again.  It feels to have been a long time and he does do a good class.  We shall be making yet another of his books.

Shame your Craft and Coffee evening didn't quite go to plan Vonny.  I seem to recall the weather was dreadful that evening so that might be why you didn't get the turn out you were hoping for.  (I know when the weather is bad we don't get too many people at Tuesday Group).  Might be worth another try though.
Jennie

Well two dress rehearsals under our belt and tonight our first night. We got a standing ovation - ok Shetlanders love to hear Shetland, but that is really something. During one of the songs I felt very emotional - it is a lovely song, but the fact that I was singing it on the stage with loads of lovely friends and in Shetland (dialect) too.  Naebody would probably understand me though ..

It has been a horrible wet day here so tried to craft but when a show is on I rather faff about  Confused  and don't settle to anything  Rolling Eyes Roll on Sunday  Laughing
Beckyb

Morning all well wet here again but as I am staying in I don't care but think I will have to put heating on again as it is cold. I think you must belong to a very good drama group  Jennie you always have loads of people come and see you and well done on first night. You will enjoy your workshop with Andy Skinner Mickie. It will be nice to see what you do with oil paints I have some but not sure what to do with them do use oil pastels. Must do some stamping so that I will have something to colour next week while dog sitting. Tomorrow I am doing a workshop with Brenda Brown we are doing a summer canvas so looking forward to that. x
Mickie

The workshop was with Neil Walker Becky - really good day and it was good to see him again too.  I am quite envious you have got Brenda Brown, I've seen some of her work and it is great.

Sounds like another fabulous show Jennie and to get a standing ovation from the locals..........says it all really.

Funny old day here today, can't seem make its mind up whether to be glum or just plain miserable.  Hope for better things tomorrow Laughing
Beckyb

Had a brilliant day Brenda is such a good teacher really enjoy her workshop she is doing another one in Oct so got something to look forward to. Bet you had a good time with Neil Mickie  not done one with him yet. xx
vonny

Glad you had good workshops Mickie and Becky. Jennie, well done for the great show -makes all the hard work worthwhile.
mickie you may be right about the weather althought the evening was actually dry- it stopped raining just after I arrived and there was a beautiful rainbow. We have 2 more sessions booked so let's hope they go a bit better.
Went for a spinning day yesterday -really lovely to spend the day talking wool as well as sharing a lunch but feel tired (1.5 hours drive each way has quite an impact) so taking it easy today.
Mickie

Beautiful day today I'm pleased to say - even if it does bring out all the barbecues.  Nothing against them, they just smell awful when you go up to bed and realise you left the bedroom windows open Rolling Eyes

I can empathise with the drive Vonny - I reckon my limit nowadays is two hours and I don't do motorways.  When I came back from The Craft Barn on Friday I found I was looking for likely stopping places for future reference.  There didn't seem to be all that many.  Mind you it isn't just the driving that is tiring; it is also the concentration that goes into the workshop that is tiring so no wonder we are worn out the next day:lol:

Think a walk in the sunshine followed by a little crafting will be me this afternoon
Beckyb

Morning all another lovely day here again. I don't drive anymore but know what you mean about driving long distance Keith doesn't enjoy it anymore.Today we have to go to Salisbury to get Dad to bring him all the way back to Southampton he is taking us,his grandchildren and great grandchildren for a meal there is going to be 24 of us and all of my 12 grandchildren will be together and guess that won't happen again.
