W39/Y6

Morning all on this bank holiday monday bit cloudy here but think it is going to be another lovely day.We are having the day in and am hoping to have a play what are you all up to. Do you realise that in 3 months time it is our birthday where on earth has time gone.x
Mickie

No sunshine here today and it is a lot cooler.  What a difference a day makes!

Funny you should mention our impending birthday Becky.  I was clearing out a drawer yesterday evening and came across an ATC back for our second birthday!  What shall we do to mark the occasion this year?

Have been busy catching up on the Journal challenges and hope to be able to post pictures later on today

Weather lovely here in Orkney - lots happening here in preparation for the commemoration of the Battle of Jutland which is taking place here tomorrow. It's on BBC 1 in the morning. The security here is something else - lots of important people coming up. We watched the military bands rehearsing this morning - great music. Will try to post some photos.
vonny

it's all happening with you Margaret -enjoy it tomorrow.
Cloudy and cold here. Got the plants for our hanging baskets and these are all now outside looking chilly  Shocked Gessoed a couple of journal pages but nor much else. Look forward to seeing your challenges Mickie -might need to put another one up  Very Happy
Jennie

Got home late last night from London having had a FABULOUS time. We really did pack so much in so by the time we got on the plane(s) yesterday we were all very quiet and sleepy !!!

Just popped in to say hello between doing the washing and tidying up a bit. Speak to you all later  Very Happy

Morning all well the weather has changed it is miserable here. Glad you had a good time Jennie hope you now get time to put your feet up for a while it won't be long before you are off on Mrs Muir will it.
sounds as though you had a lovely time in Orkney Margaret and a lovely birthday any news on you moving it seems to have been a long time.
Really must go and look at the challenges Vonny have really been neglecting them.
I  now have a few days in which will be lovely especially now the weather has changed. x
Mickie

Expect you are quite tired after all the excitement of the trip Jennie.  You'll have to take it easy for a day or two and get your breath back

You've had a busy few days too Margaret.  Did you get any photos of the church surrounded with the poppies?  Must have been an awesome sight.

Not the nicest of days out there today - cold, wet and a little windy with grey skies.  Sounds dismal but colours of the flowers and all the shades of green make for a nice picture Rolling Eyes

Think I'll do some crafting
margaret rorie

Very busy day here in Kirkwall yesterday with the Jutland commemoration. Saw David Cameron, Princess Anne and Nicola Sturgeon. Here is a photo of the cathedral with the poppies.

Thank you Margaret, it is an awesome sight.  Quite moving.
vonny

lovely to see that Margaret -and bet it's fun people spotting. Hope they spotted you too  Very Happy

Art and craft group went well today with everything need being supplied -so think my comments have been taken to heart. We made altered lids today -we had printed the paper in another session and also made the paper clay moulded images.
Here are my prototypes

Am going to try painting by blowing it through straws for my next set of sessions -have to make sure it will work first tho
Jennie

Gosh Margaret the Cathedral looks stunning. Is the display to remain all summer? If so I would really like to get there to see it. We often stop off either in Westry, Kirkwall or Stronsay n the way home to Shetland (depends on the wind direction  Laughing ).

What a super idea for altering lids Vonny - must remember that one!

Well life back in Tingwall House follows at a cracking pace as Terry has decided to sail at 2am on Monday morning. So ....... we got the shopping sorted today. Click and Collect at Tesco ..... Brilliant! I just copied in my list of food from my Mrs Muir list and then we collected it this morning. The woman thought it a bit odd with such things as 12 Bread Mixes, 6 Part bake loaves, 10 tins soup, etc. ... But we did get everything. So that all goes on the boat tomorrow. She will be a bit low i the water by then. All the clothes are ready to go on as well - even lower in the water by that point. And Finally all our "to do" stuff for the next couple of months. I've got knitting and some paints and stamps for art journalling. Then Terry can sail and I've got three weeks to sort out the wreck of the house! Everything is all over the place at the moment!
Mickie

No quiet moment for you Jennie.  Bon Voyage to Terry.  Click and collect must have made made life easier for you

Love the lids Vonny - must be fun in your class.  We have been moving paint around by blowing through straws in the art class.  It is a lot of fun and if the paint won't move easily then just spray with a little water.

It is still winter with flowers and green leaves out so another day in.  Will just have to do some crafting I guess Laughing
vonny

wow Jennie you are so organised -the click and collect sounds really great tho. Bet you can give a sigh of relief next week!
thanks for the tip re the straw painting mickie -I feel it is rather more up market now I know it was done in your class -rather than just at primary school  Laughing I was going to water the paints down before we started -they have ready mixed poster paints and I am never sure of their properties so I have brought a couple home to try -and bought 200 straws -anyone want some?
Beckyb

What a wonderful sight Margaret bet is quite emotional being there in RL.It is a good job you are so well organised Jennie I would get into a mess and forget things. What a great idea Vonny about lids must try it I have straws lying around here. I don't blame you crafting Mickie the weather is not good is it. We are off to see Dad today. x
Mickie

Don't think there will be much time for crafting today - the sun is supposed to be coming out - certainly it is already much warmer - and I have Art Society Demo this afternoon.

Eno your day everyone and I hope wherever you are there will be sunshine Laughing
vonny

do you mean a demo for you to watch or one to show the public what the group does Mickie?

Had a crafting session with friends today (along with a lovely lunch) -no sun so didn't feel I was missing out. Perhaps it'll come out tomorrow
Mickie

Demo for us to watch Vonny.  Today we had a watercolour artist demoing a woodland scene.  She was very good and had a different technique - she painted the trees by filling in the negative shapes.  Would love to master this one but a bit advanced for me
Beckyb

I think you are enjoying these demos Mickie and are you still going to classes. Had a lovely time with Dad and now going to enjoy a day in have started my atc and in the night had another idea so will try that today. x
vonny

lovely afternoon here so have been basking in the sun as it might be all we get for a while!
Glad you had a good time with your Dad Becky -but hope the night time inspiration wasn't because you couldn't sleep.
Mickie I think painting the negative space sounds pretty difficult -but I think you could do it with practise Smile
margaret rorie

Back home today so catching up with your news. Jennie - the poppies will be in Orkney until 12 June and then they're going to Perth. Have taken loads of photos and plan to do a scrapbook page.

Nothing happening about the house at present - we'll wait a couple of months and then will have to consider what to do.  That will be nearly a year and we can't wait forever!
Mickie

Oh Margaret, what a drag for you.  It wouldn't be so unusual here Rolling Eyes Hope the situation becomes positive very soon
vonny

You have been very patient Margaret -let's hope something happens soon and you don't have to start over  Sad
margaret rorie

Me too! I couldn't bear to have to show folk around the house again.
