W4/Y5

Morning all foggy here but hot and stuffy. Getting our new car today and then I am crafting tonight so that is my day sorted what are you up to.

Morning!  Miserable looking day out there and it is humid too.  Still, thinking positively, it is the end of September and no heating required.  Lovely.

How exciting, what car are you getting Becky?  I love the smell of a new car- not to mention the comfort

I am hoping to get all my swaps done today and I also have a piece of 3D wall art to complete and go foraging for food in M&S as I have a friend coming round for dinner

Have a good day

Great to have a new car to enjoy Becky -and they certainly have a specific smell.

Hope you get your swaps done Mickie -I am currently looking through the newer Craft Stmapers to see if I can find a new technique to use for my art journal challenge. Just got the new one but not too inspirational on first flick through.

Knitted part of an arrow this morning and have a newsletter to write this afternoon so that's most of the day done!
Mickie

Crafting not going to plan.  Would it be too much trouble to have an extra week in September?  It would make the year a little longer - I feel the months are just whizzing by Laughing

I agree with you Vonny, at first glance there is not much to inspire in the new Craft Stamper.  Think you have to go back to it in depth with a relaxing cuppa.
I do like the stamp though

We have got a ford b-max it is lovely  we are pleased with it so far. I got my new craft stamper yesterday not too impressed with it I wasn't with last months either hope it picks up. Nothing planned for today so going with the flow.

Nice car Becky, glad you like it.

Still trying to catch up.  They should put that on my gravestone Laughing

Looks like it is trying to turn into a nice day out there, fingers crossed the rain holds off for tomorrow too.  Am hoping that by the end of tomorrow I shall have some decking in place.  Wish me luck

Speaking of gardens - I have just taken a photo of my lilac tree, which has a couple of blossoms on it.  Hope that doesn't mean there will be no lilac blossom in the spring

It is dry here today although a bit cooler. I'm amazed that the garden is still looking good - even the bedding plants are still flowering. I would need to do some tidying up while it is still decent weather. However the crafting is taking priority until I get caught up. I'm going to another of Jennie's workshops at the weekend so I need to look out some photos. We're making a vintage box and mini book to put in it. Looking forward to a whole weekend of crafting.

Glad you like your new car Becky - always fine to get a lovely clean car! I'm not good at keeping my car clean. Margaret
Jennie

A new car Becky - always a wonderful treat. I love that new car smell and apparently you can now get a car smellie of this wonderful smell  Laughing I would need half a dozen …………

Well it was the panto rehearsal to end all panto rehearsals for those of us over 60 tonight  Laughing - 90 minutes on Me Old Bamboo and for those of you in the know I do not dance like Dick van Dyke! Aside from the all the fancy footwork I get a bamboo pole chucked at me at the beginning and and it will be a mercy if I manage to catch it every night.  Then …….. wardrobe showed us what we are wearing for this scene.  Either the choreography or the costumes need a rethink methinks  Laughing One day I will give all this up ! but it is such a lot of fun.  When the youngsters (20-25) are struggling for breath, there is probably little hope for Andy who has an artificial hip and me!
Beckyb

It will get you fit Jennie it always sounds as though you are having fun so make the most of it  Laughing

Enjoy the workshop Margaret bet Jennie is a great teacher if I lived nearer I would come and join you.

Was suppose to go crafting today but have overdone it so feeling grot with lots of pain will I never learn.
Looks as though we are in for another nice day yesterday I was in a sleeveless t-shirt all day with window and doors open.

I am so pleased to report that the decking went down despite the drizzle.  In fact I was so pleased with progress that I cut the hedge.

Whilst I was eating my lunch I watched a bit of www.britishcraftnetwork.tv  which aired today for the first time.  Not many companies yet but it looks like it will grow.  Kay Halliwell of InigoBlu was demoing in real time which I thought was good for those learning a new technique or starting out on their stamping journey.

Margaret I would definitely be joining Jennie's workshop if I were nearer too!  Have fun Laughing

Jennie I really don't know how you do it.  I would have to leave all that to the young ones with sound lungs Laughing  So good you can do it

Right, that's me back to my crafting catch up session

Jennie

I bet you are glad to have the decking down Mickie - hope you get some nice Autumn days to sit out.

Hope you are feeling a bit better Becky and able to do some crafting today. I did notice that the new channel aired today and thought of watching Indigo Blu but then promptly forgot about it! I will have to record some of them.

A bit excited here as I am one of the winners on the Sept Tim's Tags - another win this year as I also won in February too.  This one was alcohol inks and I really didn't think I made a very good job of it at all - so a little  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked

Congrats Jennie your work is always lovely.

I have really slipped doing challenges don't seem to have done any for ages struggling with craft a bit at mo not sure what I am wanting to do or do I  slightly change direction  Sad and it doesn't help when I am feeling grot  Crying or Very sad

The sun is just beginning to poke though it better come out I have washing to get dry.

Sorry that you're not feeling well Becky - hope your mojo returns soon.

Well done Jennie on being a winner in Tim's tag challenge.

Glad your decking was installed so easily Mickie - hope you manage to enjoy it before the winter.

It's a lovely bright day here but a bit windy. I'm off to my yoga class later - have missed a couple of sessions with being away so looking forward to it.

Have a good weekend - I can't believe its Friday tomorrow! Margaret
Jennie

Becky you have been doing some fabulous work just lately. I thought your recent journal pages were amazing.  Sorry to hear you have not been feeling so great - I hope things pick up soon.

Had my hair cut this morning - rather short ! Terry gave it one look at said it will be fine when it grows a bit - so it will be down to backcombing it for a while  Laughing And this afternoon I have got packed up for the workshop at the weekend.  I just hope the magnets arrive - I ordered them five weeks ago, but found out two weeks ago they are coming from China - great (not!).

Panto rehearsal tonight  - I have just about recovered from the last one  Rolling Eyes
Mickie

Becky I'm sorry you are struggling both with your health and crafting.  I do hope you feel better soon and as to the crafting - you have been doing some fabulous work.  I love to see what you have been doing and find it most inspiring

Thinking of you at your rehearsal tonight Jennie.  Hope you are not too stiff.  Well done for being a winner on Tim's Tags.

Went to lunch with a friend in Battle today.  It was lovely sitting there at the Pilgrim's Rest basking in the sunshine.  There was some activity at the Abbey involving Norman horsemen, Harold was nowhere in sight so expect he's still on his way south.

Noticed there was a red sky tonight hope it was just being decorative.

Mickie x
vonny

congrats Jennie -you are certainly winning a few things  Smile And hope the magnest arrive in time
Becky, I agree with Jennie that your journal pages are really great and have developed a long way from things you did previoulsy and I'm loving it -sorry you are feeling grot tho -I'm sure that makes things feel less than their best
Enjoy the decking while you can Mickie- it is still pretty warm here.

Did simple paper weaving with my group today -some got it well but most struggled but were getting the hang of it if they got started ok on each row. Thought they often couldn't see when they went wrong. Mind you they all stuck at it and we are going to carry on next week so we have good ones to laminate as placemats
Jennie

Yay! survived the rehearsal - although I managed to get in the wrong group for one song and had to go off and come back on again  Laughing But …. we have time ……...

I loved your Harold observations Mickie - I haven't been to Battle for years.

Hmmmm Paper Weaving … I need an idea for an ATC - thanks Vonny!

It is a bit breezy here tonight - well blowing a hoolie. It seems strange to hear the wind in actual fact which makes us realise how calm the weather has been for the last few months.  Friday tomorrow - where do the weeks go to ?
Beckyb

Thank you for all your lovely comments I am just feeling sorry for myself but feeling a bit better this morning so fingers crossed I am on the up.

Have a good workshop Jennie bet your ladies will love it please send some of your energy to me.

Can just imagine your group doing paper weaving but you must be doing something right they keep wanting you.

Sounds as though you had a good time out Mickie the weather is lovely at the mo so we have to make the most of it.

keep on the up Becky! Jennie does seem to have a lot of energy doesn't she?

Did some patchwork today along with a friend and have also just about finished my first Tunisian crocheted project -a cushion cover made from tunisian Simple Stitch. Nice relaxing day  Smile Have a good Sunday everyone
Beckyb

Do show your cushion cover Vonny

Feeling good this morning so am going to spend the day crafting well thats the plan anyway. Boy it is cold here but sun shining I have put some washing on and plan to hang it out.

   Becky x
Mickie

Glad you are back on the up Becky and I hope your crafty day is going well.   Good for you getting the washing out too, I am told this is the last nice day and it is going to rain all next week.  Do hope the weather goes all contrary and decides to stay nice.

Jennie even when you were not so well you seemed to have bags of energy so I can imagine you are like a whirlwind now.

I went to a Demo Day at the Craft Barn yesterday with a friend.  We had a lovely time with Jo Firth Young, Helen Chilton, Giovanna Zara, Chris Dark and a few others.

Gio (as we know her) was using Cosmic Shimmer Mist as paint.  This was every effective and this morning I dug out my old (very old sprays) and had a play.  When you use them as paint, they are not so loud and "in your face" but can be quite subtle and they retain their shimmer.

Helen was making master boards using 12x12 papers as her first "layer" and then going onto Cosmic Shimmer shimmer paints (say that when you've had a couple!) and stencils.  I intend to do some of these when I get a moment as it would be sooooo useful to have some backgrounds already prepared.

Jo was, of course, using PaperArtsy Fresco paints and her new Christmas Stamps but she was also doing backgrounds using painted and stencilled papers

Vonny would love to see your cushion cover

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine

Sounds like you had fun Mickie I do wish I lived nearer to the craft barn so I could do some.

   Becky x
Mickie

Yes, it is a shame Becky.  Think it would be fun to do a class with you, never mind a demo day.

will post a pic of the cushion cover once I've taken a photo. It is currently on the sofa with a number of other handmade cushions using different tecniques
