Nice day again today - just a little bit windy.  Art class went well.  Really enjoying acrylics.  We painted butterflies today and happily we had time to finish last week's buddha pictures, which was good because I never did get that part of my homework done Rolling Eyes

Think I shall be having a quiet week now - just visiting my friend on Wednesday morning, she is recovering from major surgery and then Friday off to my eldest nephew's wedding.  Just as well I am having a quiet week as still have the present to make Rolling Eyes

Good idea to have a box of cards at the ready Becky.  I really should do that too.  Maybe have a "making cards" day once in a while would be a good thing to do.

amazing that it is Monday again. Still fairly warm so worked up a bit of a sweat line dancing!
Tomorrow I hope to make the binding for my quilt then take it to finish off at the craft evening. However have a sore throat at the moment so this might not happen  Sad
Jennie

Well it is still blooming freezing here! We had the last of our photography classes this morning - a practical session at Weisdale Kirk and Kergord. Lots of trees, streams and bluebells. I got some lovely photographs which I am very proud of, but we were all soooooo cold! Temp was 8 degrees and of course we couldn't wear gloves, so my fingerless gloves didn;t do very well at all. Send some of the warm weather up please.

I am working on a couple of mini books for possible workshops later in the year, so I have spent tonight fussy cutting loads of Graphic 45 flowers and people. It is quite relaxing actually - if a little messy.

Hope your sore throat doesn't develop into anything nasty Vonny. Your art class sounds quite amazing Mickie.
Beckyb

Glad you are enjoying your class Mickie think you have enjoyed every section so far which is good.
Hope your sore throat settles down soon Vonny and you get to craft club.
I think we have it a little warmer than you Jennie but still chilly here hope summer hasn't passed us by this year and it is the longest day soon  I am sure as a child the lighter evening lasted longer than they do now days.
Out to see a friend later it is his birthday but that is it for the day.
Mickie

Hope your throat goes soon Vonny. Have you had it checked out?

We are certainly having a better summer down here. Even so, last night was the first time I haven't had to put the fire on.  Lovely day again today.

I have been taking photos of the baby seagulls on the roof.  A neighbour would insist on feeding the gulls and now they breed on our roofs and whilst I agree that baby anythings are lovely; mummy and daddy seagull are very heavy footed Rolling Eyes

Not sure I could manage my camera with cold fingers Jennie, so well done for that.  Hope you warm up soon.

Becky, I think it will be a sad day when I can no longer get to art class.  On the other hand, it will be a rapturous day when I finally get this drawing of Benedict Cumberbatch to look even remotely like him.  I'm told that it doesn't help that I am drawing from a painting but unfortunately I don't get magazines with big photos in.

I've put the buddha and butterfly paintings in my gallery.  These are the first things I have done that I am happy to show Laughing

have a successful day everyone
Jennie

Shocked  Shocked  Shocked  Cool  Cool  Cool

Woke to sunshine this morning, but by 10 am it was blowing ahoolie but the sun was still shining! I got two loads of washing dried and managed a bit of weeding - only a bit as Aimee found an old tennis ball and kept plaguing me to throw it. Clouds gathering now for the torrential rain forecast for tonight - can't have everything  Rolling Eyes
Beckyb

I have seen your butterfly and Budda Mickie they are both lovely well done wish I could draw/paint like that
Glad you have managed to get washing dry but lets just say it has to get better we do have to have a bit of a better summer.
Taking Mum this morning to see the nurse to have her stitches out and then later taking Dad out for a meal for Father's Day as I won't be able to see him Sunday I am at a craft show aren't I a naughty daughter.
Mickie

Oooh you sinner Becky!  Actually I saw an advert for the show you are going to and I wonder if Oyster Stamps will have any more Ryn stamps - please let me know if they have and I'll brave their website. Guess you could always call in on your Dad on the way back.........

It was all dull and overcast and not nice at all to start with today  I had a call to say that the frock I had ordered for the wedding was in late morning so I went to collect it, at which point the sun appeared with heat.  Couldn't try frock on I was too hot (shall we say) and whilst in the shop I remembered that there was an informal evening do at a local hostelry to go to as well so had to buy a suitable outfit for then.  Again, I couldn't try it on.  Fingers crossed please that everything will fit as it is still too hot to try things on Laughing

Hope you have sunshine today Jennie - we now have more than enough to spare and in fact, could do with some rain - the ground is like concrete

Hope you are ok Vonny.  Keep drinking plenty of water to stop the throat drying out.
vonny

yep, humid here too Mickie -so hope all the clothes fit.
The sore throat has improved pretty quickly thank you for your wishes and only a bit tender now -wouldn't get a doctors appt until it was better anyway Mickie!

Hope all the photos come out ok too.

Been busy at a committee meeting (no Zentangling as writing minutes) then hairdressers in the afternoon. Making scratch windmills at craft group tomorrow (the main part of the windmill is the stuff you scratch patterns into).
Jennie

Oh I can send you some rain Mickie Laughing Hope the dresses fit!

An odd sort of day when I got some little things done, lots of visitors and a difficult phone call with Terry - the signal was poor and I had to shout, very loudly. It really upset Aimee and I imagine is the taste of things to come (hopefully not soon - it was exhausting!). Had to have a piece of chocolate to recover - now it was on Scottish TV that having a piece of black chocolate every day can keep away stroke and heart attack. There you go  Shocked

Tonight we had the photo session of Tell Wiz the Shetland Dialect musical I was involved with. A bit difficult seeing yourself on a large screen with mouth wide open singing with abandon. But …. seriously some lovely photographs which I will share when I get them. There is also going to be a DVD and a special promotional night where it will be shown on an even BIGGER screen. Scary stuff! Wink
Beckyb

I will send some sun your way Jennie or try too, Hope Terry is having a good sail and you have a better phone call next time.
Hope the outfits fits ok Mickie have you anything as a back up.
Glad your throat is getting better Vonny have you ever been to the craft shop Rachel goes too Loobie.
Had a lovely meal with Dad last night he is so funny I do love him he has been diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus at the mo he has no secondaries which is good too frail for op but I think he is going to try radiotherapy and if it gets too hard to swallow he will have a stent put in.
I am having a day in and crafting.
Mickie

Oooh Jennie - star of stage and screen.  Looking forward to the photos.  Bet you never dreamed of all this when you retired  Laughing   Shame the phone call was difficult - fingers crossed for better connection next time

So (to quote the vernacular) I had a trying on session last night and woohoo!  Everything fits.   So all ready for the off, except that I have to finish off the present.  Actually, I shall be snookered if it rains - just remembered my summer rainwear consists of a pink (yes, where was I coming from?) anorak Rolling Eyes

Good to hear your throat is on the mend Vonny.  The vagaries of the appointments system at the doctors is interesting - we are able to make appointments online, which is good I think because you are able to bypass the Receptionists inquisition.

Fingers crossed for your Dad Becky.  Hope he doesn't find the radiotherapy too demanding.

Everyone seems very busy at the moment.  I'm off on the first flight to Orkney tomorrow - the St Magnus Festival is on which is a festival of music and drama which attracts folk from all over.  It's a bit different from the Folk Festival! I don't know much about classical music but I'm going to a couple of concerts as well as a play and some poetry.  Will catch up with my sister too as her hubby is busy all weekend shifting chairs at the festival.

We've had one nice day this week so got caught up in the garden. It's still cold here and the farmers in Orkney are having to sell off their young cattle as the grass isn't growing.  I know farmers always moan but things are bad for them this year.

Glad your outfits fit, Mickie - enjoy the wedding.  Hope everyone has a good weekend. Margaret
vonny

glad you had a good time with your dad Becky and that he is staying positive- lets hope it works for him. I do go to Loobi-crafts- it has an amazing amount packed into a small space and am always enticed to buy a few things.

Good that the outfits fitted Mickie-just good weather to hope for now

Jennie I would hate to see myself like that -would just pretend it wasn't me -great that it is being celebrated so much tho

Windmill making went well -and they want me to take another group. i have suggested alternate weeks between them so we are going to look into this.
Beckyb

Morning all you all seem to be busy
Hope the day went well yesterday Mickie and you didn't need your pink anorak will let you know about Ryn stamps I am sure they were new ones on web site.
I have put a load of washing on, put a casserole in slow cooker ,taken my tablets am now sat at puter with a cup of tea going with the flow today.
