W44/Y4

Morning all had a lovely meal yesterday the kids gave Keith a spitfire experience and a night in a hotel at Biggin Hill so that will be fun.
Out today having a scrapbooking session so looking forward to that.

What a lovely surprise.  When are you going?  I am guessing that you will be at the hotel if not the in the Spitfire so you get to have fun too.

That reminds me of a friend who was given a balloon ride for her 60th from the firm.  I think by the time the wind and weather conditions were right for it combined with suitable dates for her, she was nearly 63 by the time she went up Rolling Eyes  Laughing

What started as a dull day has brightened up, which is very nice as I have to go shopping.

mickie -my mum had the same with the ballooning and it spoilt it really. the Spitfire sounds great Becky and I'm sure there will be hangers on  Laughing Mike did a tank driving experience and I got to go in the tank while he drove. there wasn't much to hold onto and i went home with bruised wrists -fun tho. Enjoy the scrapbooking -is this something you often do?

been carding my dyed fleece and visiting the dentist today!

I can't do the spitfire but doing the hotel bit I will take some crafty stuff with me we haven't booked yet and we have till next year to do it.

The scrapbooking day Vonny was a trial run we all enjoyed it and sure we will do it again I started doing a book for Mum but never finished it so I am doing it for Dad it is pictures of them both together  and taken down in Sidmouth over the years we have been there with them it is rather emotional to do though.

Having a whole day in today going to stamp some images so I can finally try out my new pencils I got weeks ago.

glad you enjoyed the scrapbooking Becky- but those old pictures and memories can certainly be emotional.
been spinning this afternoon and mending a necklace -going to make earings to match  as I want to wear it to a wedding this Saturday
Mickie

Scrapbooking club sounds super Becky.  I agree it can be emotional - I have photo albums from my parents that I find difficult to open.

Taking your craft stuff with you on Spitfire day is a good idea; you could scrapbook the day in real time just as it happens.

You have by the sound of it had a relaxing afternoon Vonny - I imagine spinning to be one of those tasks that allows your mind to wander off to dream whilst you are actually doing something productive.  How very nice

Went to a BBQ last night, which was very nice.  It rained most of the time so we were in the conservatory and dining room, although some of the food was cooked outside under umbrellas.  Everyone brought salad or a desert which I think is great because you get to try all sorts of different things.

You all sound as if you're having a busy week. I really enjoy scrapbooking but agree with you that it can be quite emotional although it's lovely looking at the finished pages.

There was a replica longship in Lerwick on Monday - it had lost its mast and was in to see if a replacement could be got here.  There wasn't anything suitable so the longship left on Tuesday to go to Liverpool (using engines instead of sail!) I took a photo of the longship at the pier - the ship in the background is being used to accommodate some of the workers who are building the new gas plant.  I thought this showed the old invaders (Vikings) and the new ones (the oil men)! The photo shows that the sun does shine here sometimes! Margaret

Great pic Margaret what great accommodation the gas fitters have  must be fun on there. I guess I have some viking in me being a bit Danish  Laughing

Dentist later and then craft club tonight I am going to play this morning.

great to see the longship Margaret -pretty small to sail the seas if you ask me!
Mickie -i like those do's where everyone brings something to eat too -great variety -and spinning is relaxing just the hum of the wheel -if I'm not careful I sometimes slow right down and almost drift off.

Becky -hope you enjoyed craft club. I'm off to my volunteering craft club this afternoon -painting today to make into mobiles next week!
Mickie

Love that picture Margaret and the symbolism.  I agree Becky, the gas fitters have super accommodation.

As to whether you have Viking blood Becky, I watched a documentary some years ago that declared we all have a bit of Viking blood.  I thought we all had a bit of Irish too.  What mongrels we all are when it comes down to it Laughing

Miserable day out there today so I am staying in and making a flip book and listening to an audible book.

Well I am also related to Danish royalty the prince had a fling with one of the servants and that was the start to my Mum's family I think I am way down on the list  Laughing but you are right Mickie we are a mixture.

Think I have done a bit too much this week so am having a lazy day and going with the flow.

It is already warm and sunny here.

wow - well don't forget to polish your crown Becky- that is amazing family history!
margaret rorie

Becky - your family history is amazing! Up here in the far north we like to think we're all descended from Vikings. Along with a great deal of the UK population as the Vikings were great travellers. You can get your DNA tested to find out but it costs about 200 so don't think I'll bother.

Don't seem to have done much crafting this week although I have got next month's tag done. Need to get some some cards done this weekend.

Have a good weekend whatever you're doing. Margaret

Evening all....

Sorry I've been awol.... I don't know where the time has gone?!  I will go and catch up with everything soon... it looks like you have all been busy and having some lovely days out and crafty experiences!

Work has been manic... we went away to Portugal last minute last week - desperately needed the break after everything that has been happening.... and I have my op on Wednesday.  The date came through the day before I flew to Portugal.

Off to catch up!!
Miriam

Afternoon all.... I hope you are having a good Sunday.  It's been cloudy but dry here - I have managed to dry all of my washing on the line Smile

Haven't really done much today - I have pork slow roasting in the oven and am trying to get my mojo going and a craft project underway for tonight - just not sure what I want to do!! LOL!!
vonny

hope you got some inspiration Miriam. I have been working on a panel as part of a project for one of my craft clubs -sat down and waited for the paint to dry but then didn't go back to it. Oh well can finish it in the week.
Have a crafting session with friends tomorrow so will aim to do ATCs then

Had a lovely day at the wedding yesterady -great riding on the top of a double decker! It had rustic feel being in a marquee at the top of a rather rough field. Pimms was served in recycled jam jars. Even the loos were interesting as they were composting ones -just a hole in the ground and a bit of sawdust to sprinkle- not smelly tho.
Beckyb

The loos sounds interesting Vonny  Laughing sounds like it was a lovely wedding.
Hope you managed to get some crafting done Miriam.

What a lovely wedding, although not sure about the loos.  Loved the recycled jam jars.

Hope you got your mojo going Miriam

the loos were much better than the sound -it just felt really strange not to flush!!!

Started ATCs today but seemed to do more talking than crafting!
