W5/Y5

Morning all well it is tipping down here so glad I am not going out although have workshop tonight. Have you anything good planned for the week.

We've got gales up here today and the forecast is not good for the rest of the week.

I had a great weekend at Jennie's workshop and have posted photos of the vintage box and book in my gallery. The book was made from one sheet of 12x12 card and is so clever! Jennie got enough magnets for  everyone. I still have to add photos but my printer is playing up - such a pain! I'm planning to give the box and book to my sister for her 60th birthday in December. Many thanks Jennie for sharing your expertise with us.

More crafting tonight - it's Wool Week here so I'm going to a workshop to make a postcard - no idea what it's made from as it seems to involve sewing! Will let you know how it turns out. Margaret
vonny

bet the postcard has wool in it somewhere Margaret!

Wet and windy here too and only went out as I had to go to the dentist. Made two ATCs yesterday but not done alot today. Taking my parents shopping tomorrow as my mum (the driver) has broken her arm. So will be looking after them for a bit over the next few weeks
Mickie

What a horrible day it has been - actually had to dig a jumper out but happily not had to resort to heat yet.  The rain has been relentless and the sea was DI Pumice coloured and choppy.  Hoping for better things tomorrow.

It has been a bit of a nothing day otherwise too and I had such hopes.  I guess there is always tomorrow.

Sorry to hear your mum has broken her arm Vonny.  Hope she is managing ok.

Think a woolly postcard will be most effective Margaret.  Expect you had great fun making it.

I had great fun last night making a wooly postcard - we did dry felting which I had never done before. I was pleased with the end result but may add some more plants. I've put a photo in the gallery.

Another windy day here - we had such a lovely summer that we had all forgotten how the wind blows up here! I think the ferries are cancelled today so there won't be much fresh stuff in the supermarkets.

Sorry to hear about your mum Vonny - good that you live near enough to be able to help out. Margaret
Mickie

Miserable day again here, we've even had some thunder and lightening.  Just enough to make you think "what was that?" but not enough to actually enjoy.

Am having a crafting day and really enjoying myself

dry felting is very effective Margaret -but painful if you manage to put the needles in your finger!
Been sunny today but still windy. this morning the snowflake lit up in the car as it was 4 degrees! (was parked in the shade but even so!) Spent the day doing some patchwork. (after taking my dad shopping)

Sorry to hear about your Mum Vonny and good you are around to help.

Very Happy at the thunder remark Mickie it has got to be a decent storm nice and loud I love it.

Glad you had a good weekend workshop and a wool one Margaret you have been busy.

We seem to have the sun today but it is cold I do have the heating on.

Off crafting with friends today and the dinner with my Dad.

Sorry to hear about your Mum Vonny - it must be very frustrating for her.

Thankfully it was a lovely day today after the horrible weather of Monday evening and yesterday morning.  My bag is packed as I am off to Exeter for a few days to see an old school friend and family who live in Crediton. Then on Monday I am travelling up to London to meet up with Brenda Brown and Chris Warner who are with me on the Vintage Journey Design Team. We have lots of inky stuff planned and I am hoping to learn some new techniques.  See you all in a week's time!
vonny

you certainly get about Jennie. Enjoy Exeter it is a lovely city -I found a nice bead shop there if you like these. In London there is Blade Rubber stamps opposite the British Museum if you get a chance to visit  Smile
thanks to you all for the kind words re my mum -she is in pain but it is getting better every day.
vonny

am busy trialling some projects for my group this morning -Xmas calendar and small stocking (Xmas tree decoration size). Also sorting things out for a dyeing workshop that i am running next week -never done this before so will be a learning curve. We are dyeing a colour wheel from 3 primary colours, using acid dyes.

also have taken photos of cushion and put it in my gallery
Beckyb

You all sound busy I am having a day in should be packing as off to Sidmouth tomorrow do hope the weather will be better than what we are having.
Where do you get your energy from Jennie please give me some.

Enjoy Exeter Jennie - I have fond memories of a craft fair I went to there once.  As for London, what's not to like? Especially if there is crafting thrown in Laughing

Have a lovely time in Sidmouth Becky.  Hope the storms will be over by then and you can get out and about.

There was a better thunderstorm last night in that there was much "grumbling" in the distance for quite some time and then suddenly this deafening blast that made me jump and spill paint all over myself.  Happily I had my pinny on so no damage done  Laughing

Christmas calendar sounds fun Vonny, not to mention the dyeing workshop.  Be interesting to see the colours you come up with.

Was hoping to do a workshop with Helen Chilton tomorrow but unfortunately it has been cancelled.

thought I would post a warning as a few days ago I received an e mail supposedly for HMRC saying I had been awarded a tax rebate and asking me to complete a form with my card details. Apparently they NEVER e mail about tax refunds ( there were some clues that it might be a scam e.g. sign after the amount, a spelling error and mention of the fiscal year rather than the specific tax year) It did have an proper tax office address included tho. I have now reported this (I googled reporting spam e mails) and this gave me an e mail address to forward the e mail on to -so hopefully they can use the info and eventaully catch those responsible - so if in doubt about any e mail asking for bank/card details phone the source first.
It pays to be suspiciuos  Twisted Evil
margaret rorie

Very good advice Vonny. I've had a couple of strange emails recently saying they are from Amazon  - I deleted them immediately as they looked suspicious. Margaret
Mickie

Thanks Vonny, you cannot be too careful.  It is so easy to be caught out by rogue sites using email "stationery" that looks like the real thing.  Shame we have to be so suspicious isn't it?

had a relaxing day and just made a few ATCs for the month. Mustn't forget the art journal birthday challenge tho!
margaret rorie

Went to the gym this morning and was the only one there! This is the start of the school holidays so there is a mass exodus from Shetland. A lot of folk go away to Aberdeen to do their Xmas shopping at this time. I can only cope with a very short time shopping now unless it is online which is quite relaxing!

I managed to make a card for the LIM challenge this afternoon - it was a one layer card which took quite a few attempts! Will have to wait until daylight to take a photo. Still have to do the Craft Stamper ATC - can't understand why the little bird is wearing a hat!?  Margaret
Mickie

Hadn't even noticed the bird was wearing a hat Margaret!  Those Craft Stamper stamps can be quite challenging can't they?

I've been working on another MDF project.  I suppose this is altered art and I must say I find it quite relaxing - well, I did until you reminded me that I still have not done the friends journal page Vonny.  Will look out a journal in the morning and get to it.  Always good to have something to look forward to isn't it? Laughing

Enjoy your evening ladies

I have had that  e-mail Vonny a few years ago I just reported it as spam but also phoned them and told them.
