Another day spent with Helen Chilton.  We used air dry clay, some wonderful stuff that gave a cork like finish but was horrendously expensive, moulds, embossing folders, hot glue, stamps and stencils along with Brushos, micah powders, PaperArtsy Fresco paint and enthusiasm.

Definitely brought out my lighter side:

and my darker side:

I seem to have given Shrek Lady a beard!  Oops!

wow! Beautiful Mickie.

I don't use clay often enough to justify the cost!

Looks like you had great fun.  I would love to do a workshop with Helen - she has such a creative mind!!

this is very effective Mickie -did you cut out all the twiddly bits on the boat or use tissue paper (assuming it is stamped)?

The boat is from a Kaiserkraft paper called Ship.  I layered the sails to give a bit more "billowing".  I'm loving this form of mixed media

Here is a photo of the Expanding Book made at the Neil Walker workshop.  To the left you can just see the twine used to tie the signatures in. Silly me, I forgot to get some twine for future signatures.  Duh Rolling Eyes

Thanks Vonny - I'm not sure it will matter if  don't get the exact same twine.  I'll add signatures between the existing ones and hopefully create a pattern

We altered a couple of books in Inky Fingers recently - we used the folding method and made an Angel and a Christmas Tree.  By the time I'd folded all the pages I felt I was losing the will to live!  However, with much banter and help from my friends I came home with all the necessary bits and pieces  to complete both projects.

I have just finished the Angel and thought you might like to see her:
