Happy New Year Becky and everyone else. Think the weather has been pretty drear across the country these last few days with fog and hard frosts. We didn't have the fog but did have a couple of nights of frost which soon disappeared when the sun came out however the sun has disappeared today so it is dank and miserable.
I still enjoyed my morning walk along the coast path with the dog though and the smell of rotting fish wasn't so pungent  Shocked

Luckily we didn't feel the force of Storms Barbara and Conor but can imagine that you folk in Scotland certainly had some weather effects to brave! Hope there aren't any more storms to come!
My craft shed is quietly warming up so I am off to make some thank you cards Smile

Wishing you all a Happy New Year from a very calm Shetland! It is suddenly very cold and we have had sleety showers but very little wind for the last couple of days - lovely!

I have had a lovely few days crafting, catching up with some of my DT commitments but also having a lovely play too. I have been trying out some new techniques in between tidying up the craft room, but I have to be honest it doesn't look any tidier as I keep getting side tracked!

I got some Faroese fleece from Terry for Christmas which he got when he was in Faroe earlier in the year, so I am looking forward to having a bit of a spin this afternoon and catching up with the Archers - I've still got two weeks to go yet! (all the panto's fault as I was in the theatre each night at 6).

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend x

Happy New Year from me too. It's mucky, murky and wet here ( it can only get better as the year progresses) and I am planning on staying indoors and vegetating. Have made soup (celery), mash and will roast a duck later - definitely a comfort food day. Yesterday was also our wedding anniversary, we have a beautiful camellia that always produces pure white blooms for us around this time. Sadly with the rain they are now all brown Sad .

Happy New Year everyone!  Hope 2017 brings everything that you want to.

Weather has been dire here too today.  I did brave it through the rain and wind to the seafront to see what was happening.  I'm lying, I got as far as I needed to see that the sea and sky were the same colour so rushed back home!  For all it was a very short walk, I think we can call the homeward stretch a "power" walk Wink   So that'll be 10 calories used if I am lucky Laughing

Whilst out I thought I might look for those lovely sticks that rockets come with.  Had hoped there would be loads as the fireworks seemed to go on.......and on........and............on!

Glad all is calm up there Jennie - I saw the photos and you certainly had a high old time.  Hope the big storms stay away now.

Glad you made it to Wales ok in all that fog Becky.  Safe journey home.

Becky you made me smile being a day early -just so keen to get into 2017! The weather in Wales often seems to be grot!
Happy New Year to you all.
Glad the fish smell is reducing Rusticus -and hopefully you got some thank you cards done. Let Miriam know if you would like a gallery here and she will set it up (you too Scrapmate)
Jennie I am currently spinning a blend of natural coloured and natural dyed wool inspired by winter (greys and browns with a bit of white silk for frost/snow) -hope you enjoy the Faroese -is it in the grease? Glad the weather is calmer for you -we have hardly any wind her for about a week at least.
Well done for getting out Mickie -at least bad weather does make you walk quicker. Bright and frosty this morning so walked up on the Chilterns. At one point there were 4 kites (birds) circling over us -great to watch. Am missing my line dancing but should be back to normal by next week

Belated congratulations/greetings for your wedding anniversary Rukhshana. Definitely comfort food days but should be eating less now Confused  Need to get rid of some of this dreadful fat - yuk!

Oh Vonny what a wonderful sight, do envy you watching the kites. This morning hubby was debating with himself regarding a bird he saw perching on our neighbour's aerial when it finally took off he realised he had been watching a sparrowhawk!

You can do your own gallery just go into  the gallery category  and then do a new topic and name  Rusticus Gallery and that will start one for you.  Well it is nice to be home today we are going to the local craft shop which has a sale on which I have been told is very good and then will going crafting with the girls.
It is so cold here this morning but we have the sun. Hope you all stay safe and warm. xx

It's very frosty here. The dog woke me up at 4 this morning  Sad  and when I looked out it was such a clear night with a beautiful array of stars in the sky. I haven't seen so many stars (in the UK) for a while.

Gosh Becky, them's good prices.  Have a happy play day

It's a wee bit chilly out there again today.   Suppose that would be normal for the time of year but I did so enjoy the warm sunshine over the holiday....

This year seems to be getting back to normal quicker than usual so am back to being busy - hairdressing yesterday, art group tomorrow and an art class on Friday.

Love the sound of your latest spinning Vonny - look forward to seeing the finished item

Still tackling my backlog of UFOs - need to get them all out of the way as the next Inky Fingers is on 18th Jan.  I'd like to make a resolution to get the entire project finished in class but, hey, where's the fun in that?! Rolling Eyes

Back to normal for us here in Scotland today - we have an extra day of celebration Laughing Amazed to say that I found it quite therapeutic getting the washing organised and starting cleaning again - that won't last ....... Laughing

It's a very cold day so my walk was a chilly one. My knee is a whole lot better now and as part of my "knee regime" I have to do a flat mile every day. Given that I was doing three/four miles a day before it dislocated a mile is easy to fit in, even between the showers! I did step on the scales this morning ......... I'll need more than a mile a day methinks!

I tried spinning the Faorese Vonny but it is not easy - lots of slubby bits in it but that is what makes it warm. Do post a pick when you have finished yours - the colours sound lovely.

Well done Becky, getting anything for 2 is an absolute bargain !

what bargains Becky! Tho I must admit to not going in for Halloween stamps
Glad things are getting back to normal for folks. Am back volunteering with my arts and crafts group tomorrow which I guess is the start of some sort of normal structure for me. Need to start thinking about this months swaps before the days disappear!

Jennie -are the sheep actually Faroese breed? Sounds like you will have a lovely textured yarn -how much have you got? Have put a picture of the 'winter' batt in my gallery for anyone interested

Yes Vonny, it's pure Faorese, and I note that when they spin their own wool to sell they mix it with merino or Shetland. So a bit course on its own. But might make some warm socks!

Bitterly cold here today but I had my walk early so can now stay tucked up nice and warm.

sounds like you need those socks then Jennie!
Rusticus -don't know how you get rid of that photo -hopefully someone else can help.
Planned the display board at my art and craft group up until Easter today -had to compete with Grease tho as one lady was unwell so we had to move into the other room. Also made a few snowflakes to put on the board until we are sorted for Valentines day -needs a lot of early planning as I'm only there every fortnight

sounds like a good suggestion Becky.
Eye test today and some new glasses -I chose some really nice frames at first -they were the same as the ones I already have! Eventually found some similar but different!
Have a quiet weekend ahead so just chilling
